A-Z Interviews: Our Nameless Boy
Best Album Ever Written: Refused - ’The Shape of Punk To Come’. Maybe.
Craziest Moment You’ve Experienced In The Band: Getting a 5-star review
Deepest Lyrics One Of Your Songs Features: ‘This is your garden, you can’t grow beyond here’ ended up being accidentally topical.
Easiest Song You Wrote: Since the EP we’ve been working on a ton of material. There’s one new song called ‘Less on the Mill’ that we decided to just ‘let be’ and not overthink and it came together really nicely into one of our favourites.
Favourite Show You’ve Ever Played: Our EP launch show at The Louisiana, Bristol last week was insane. First time we’ve ever done an encore.
Guest You’d Most Like To Feature On A Your Record: Childish Gambino
Happiest Moment You’ve Experienced In The Band: We’re still in those early stages where everything that comes up is the new best thing. We’ve had a lot recently with videos and the EP being released, but I’d also count opening for The Early November and recording our newest (unreleased) song as a tester for… what’s next.
Interesting Fact About One Of Your Members: Ben is getting married this year.
Jokes You Have In The Band: Constantly questioning why Richie bothers showing up even though he’s totally the best musician.
Kicking Off Your Set Is Best With Which Song: A new one we’ve written called ‘Another Uncharacteristic Lapse In Judgement’. It’s short and it bangs from the get go.
Longest Distance You’ve Travelled To Play A Show: Not far yet. We’ve sort of been waiting to get to a certain standard before we play London. We’re there now, and we’ve got invites to jump on up North as well so that’ll be happening this year. Ben and I played a set in The Philippines last year but that was by accident.
New Band You’d Recommend: Better Than Mending
Opening For This Band Would Be Ideal: Manchester Orchestra. Or mewithoutYou.
Place You’d Most Like To Tour: Germany
Quote That You’d Like To Pass On To Readers: You are not the centre of the universe. We are each other’s satellites.
Reason For The Title Of Your Recent/Forthcoming Release: ‘Tomorrow I’ll Be Scared Again’ references my anxiety surrounding the possibility of a serious illness reoccurring.
See Us Live At: TBC but Liverpool, Lincoln, Bristol, London, Cardiff and Brighton are strong possibilities for later this year.
The Old Days Of Music Were Better Than Those Current, do you agree?: Yes. But also no. Not many bands are given the chance to develop and grow as artists in the kind of way say Death Cab and the like used to, and there’s a strange and rapid ‘over it’ phenomenon which denies many deserving acts of a second pass. However, the lights that shine bright today shine really bright, and even at 34, I’m still discovering new bangers on a monthly basis, which is just amazing to me.
Variations You’d Like To Do On Any Of Your Songs: We recently changed the first third of EP closer ‘Nover’ by chilling it right out and adding reverb and swells.
What Bands Have You Seen Live and Regretted: Cant think of any. Even if I’m not enjoying a set, there’s always something to learn from watching other bands, including mistakes to avoid.
You could have written any song in history, which would you pick: ‘BoRap’, obviously.
Zoo animal that best describes the personality of your band: Unicorn
