Interviews About Albums: Earthstate - Earthstate (2019)

1. What can you say about your debut album “Earthstate”?

Hi Breathing the Core and thanks for having us!

What an odyssey! It’s been a long way, from the very beginning of the band when we used to work on our demos on the couch to the materialization of the sound we wanted to create to spread our ideas with this album.

This record is also, for some of us, the first project we manage to this point. So, it means a lot to us and we are very proud to share it with you guys.

2. What is the meaning of the album’s name?

The album tells the journey of a fictional character from the birth of his project (with the song ‘The Decision’), through his adventures (‘Fallen Peace’) and finally to end up in his new world full of hopes and dreams: Earthstate.

3. Which one of you, within the band, is the main composer of this record?

We usually used to work as a team. We have Stane and Max who work first on the foundations of the song, Thibs and Dewi then help to square and make the parts more effective. The most important thing is that we always were together in the same room during the writing process. It's not the fastest way to work, but we made sure that everyone was involved and could bring his own ideas.

4. If you had to pick one song from this album, which one would you pick and why?

Everyone in Earthstate has his own favorite song, but we can say ‘No Turning Back’ because it perfectly represents the vibes of the album and it's a good mix of our different influences. That’s why we chose it as our first single to drop.

5. Is there a special message you want to convey via this album? If it’s the case, what is it?

It is! The whole album is about not being afraid of the unknown, following your dreams to go on the adventure of your life. It’s quite what we are living right now!

6. Are there some lyrics that you really like and that you ́d love to share with us?

“We started from nothing
Building a castle in The Air
When no one believed in
Our Destiny”

This line in our second single sum up very well the main message of the album, and we thought it was a beautiful way to illustrate it.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank specially?

We simply took inspiration from our own lives, and from what we see around us. We tried to write so that everyone could identify themselves and relate their own experiences or difficulties to the kind of journey described in this album. Otherwise, we are grateful about the help and the support our friends and family give us every day.

8. Something to add to end this interview?

Thanks again for having us and see you soon on the road!
