Interviews: DARK STARES
In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band DARK STARES from UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Well at first we performed for quite a while as 'Kalazar' but ultimately didn't feel that it suited our long-term goals and vibe. The name Dark Stares ended up coming from a cartoon called Funny Bones, which had a little intro song.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
There is no other, we can't even imagine forming a band for anything other than some form of rock and/or rock & roll.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, three of us are brothers and Harry is a life-long family friend.
4. Each band member favourite band?
That's too hard to answer, bands we enjoy range from Slipknot to Led Zeppelin to Depeche Mode to Tears For Fears, and lots of other stuff outside it and in between.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Songs and melody tend to rise out of you one day when you're plucking around on an instrumental; it often doesn't seem that working too hard at finding those songs is very effective, you have to let them come to you.
6. Where was your last gig?
The Camden Assembly, Chalk Farm, London.
7. Where would you like to play?
Brixton Academy would be a great venue to play in.
8. Who would you like to support?
Probably the Arctic Monkeys, immense band and their audience would be a fantastic opportunity to get in front of.
9. Who not?
The 1975.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Probably drink 1-2 beers beforehand, be sure you've rehearsed to the best of your ability (without over-working your voices too near to the gig itself) and, remember, most people can't usually tell if you're making mistakes.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Any creative or musical person who goes down this route cannot fail but to appreciate the sheer brilliance of The Beatles.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
It wasn't weird, but two fans from Spain separately ordered a copy of our first album, for each other, and privately asked us to sign the copy for the other as a surprise. They would have arrived on the same day, which was lovely.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They keep us going!
14. What do you think of our site?
Always love sites like yours which help promote independent music and give bands a chance.
15. Something to add?
Thanks so much for the interview.
