Interviews: Higher Ground

In this new occassion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock/Rock band Higher Ground from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their  FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that? 

Just from a little in joke with the band members, a fake ego trip where we’d all imply we were the better band member. It doesn’t even really make sense but we’re all quite weird!

2.Why did you want to play this genre? 

I think “genre” isn’t something we really have, we use a little of everyone’s favourite genres in our sound. The result is nothing specific. Just some kind of pop punk emo rock…

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Elle and Dan were in a previous band together! The rest of us, no…

4. Each band member favourite band? 

Chloe – My chemical romance

Jack – Blink 182

Elle – A Day to remember

Dan – Thrice

Howard – Warren Zevon

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

We just love music, and playing music. We want to write things that we can enjoy and that will inspire potential fans! 

6. Where was your last gig? 

The engine rooms in bow 

7. Where would you like to play? 

Everywhere. All over the world.

8. Who would you like to support? 

Anyone that will have us! It would be awesome to support one of our favourite bands but we’re just excited to be here to be honest!

9. Who not? 

Anyone that’s full of themselves and doesn’t support the rest of the music scene.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

We suffered from stage rust when we hadn’t played in a while, but not stage fright. Our one tip is NOT to imagine the audience naked. You’ll be laughing too much to play the songs. 

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

The bands we love to listen to. And bands that have amazing stage presence. A band we know – Jack the envious – has an awesome live performance skill level. Other than that it’ll be our favourite bands, My Chem, ADTR, Blink, Thrice and Warren Zevon.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

Its not that weird but there’s been a running thing amongst fans about their annoyance that we didn’t have merch… that’s changed recently though!

13. What do you think of your fans? 

Patient saints, all of them.

14. What do you think of our site?

We’d compare it to if a penguin put on a quality tailored suit, and went moshing at a killswitch engage concert, but didn’t get a single drop of beer spilled on the suit. And he had an amazing night that will be told about for generations in the North Pole. 

15. Something to add?

Here’s an amusing coincidence, before Chloe and Jack both joined the band, Jack almost joined a band with Chloe’s daughters’s dad, but Chloe and Jack didn’t know each other. We’re glad Jack chose us.
