Track By Tracks: Son Of The Mourning - Eulogy (2019)
1. Leechmistress:
This is about a poisonous, manipulative individual who lives their life purely to be seen as the alpha within a social circle. A lying, deceitful creature who stirs up mistrust and division with their non stop whirlwind of drama. Every friendship circle has or has had one and they always get found out in the end.
2. Glowing Orionid:
This is a pacey number about self evolution in the face of adversity and scene pretenders/elitists. There are always going to be non believers in every facet of life, those that believe their own hype and those who are simply frauds; it’s how you deal with them that leaves it mark. Concentrate on being the best you can be and don’t worry about anyone else. The title was inspired by an Orionid meteor shower that was occurring at the time of writing.
3. Skinbox:
An extremely emotive subject, it’s a personal viewpoint regarding ethnic grooming gangs; Skinbox being a 4 walled room where the depraved exploitation of the young and vulnerable takes place by repugnant savages.
4. The Way Laura Wont:
The oldest song on Eulogy, it has been a SOTM staple since its creation and has been recorded by different lineups in various stages of the bands timeline. Musically true to the original, I kept what lyrics I could from the original recording for authenticity and respect for my previous band mates but fleshed it out with a tale of overcoming heartbreak and betrayal.
5. Carpe Diem (Divide & Conquer):
Told from a veteran soldier’s viewpoint, this is based on current day (Not So) Great Britain and the thoughts of veterans regarding the erosion of respect for their service to their country. It also touches on the general disregard of the country’s people by a shambolic, self serving, not fit for purpose Government and the unrest it is causing.
6. Death In The Picturesque:
Planet Earth is a revolving rock of remarkable, breathtaking beauty that mankind is destroying. We are our world’s own strain of skin cancer and responsibility needs to be taken by the entire population to reverse the effects of our selfishness and ignorance on Mother Earth.
7. Equilibrium:
Every action has a reaction. We have Cause and Effect. Equilibrium is about decisions we make in life, the effect they have on us and the impact we have on others and the enjoying of the right ones and having to live with the wrong ones; the yin and the yang of life. Prevention is always going to be better than the cure but mistakes are human. Always gain as much trustworthy information as possible before acting, as what is done cannot be undone.
