Interviews: One Steel Wound

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Metal band One Steel Wound from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their  FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The Idea for the band name actually came out from Dan’s Xbox live gamer tag. It came out just as it was and when we finally had our official roster for the band, we played around with the idea of changing the name. We decided that it’ll stay we loved it since it was very odd and different.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We’ve always loved the hell out of the metal genre and subgenres. You listen to bands like Slipknot, Korn, Disturbed & Machine head how could you not want to play in metal! All those bands were very out there and unique and all of them had a way different take on music then what was on the radio these days. It was love at first listen for the metal genre, the music just spoke for itself for us. Just something about the way music is composed and made by all these amazing artists that we knew this is where we wanted to be.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

2 of us kinda knew each other in the beginning. Dan and Brandon had known each other for a little bit of time and had a couple of jam sessions before meeting Gerard. We ended up meeting Gerard at a local music store and noticed he was jamming out on guitar and at the time we were looking for a bassist. Brandon just walked up and asked him if he wanted to jam and Gerard was like HELL YEAH and we met up and everything just fell into place like a beautiful bandmate bromance story.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Brandon’s favorite band is definitely Disturbed. Absolutely, loves the tone of guitars, David Draimon’s vocals melodies, and just killer songs in general. Dan’s is System of a Down, he worships the way that Daron plays guitar. That dude is just really out there with his guitar playing and nobody else really like him. Gerard’s is a mixture of 2 Korn & Muse, he really loves the dynamic of the bass usage in those bands. How every time that bassist always come up with a new way to really make a song insanely cool.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

A lot of our inspiration comes from just anything and everything. Sometimes we think abstract like “What if you sold your soul to the devil and he comes to collect?”. We were like we should totally write a song about that. Another example “What is going on in our minds when we want to steal something?” Ya know, just weird sh** like that! We love it and won’t stop going around ideas like that.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago. We played with great friends of ours in Face the fire for their album release show. That show was a ton of fun! We can’t wait to do it again.

7. Where would you like to perform?

One of the venues we hope to have the honor to play on is the Tinley Park Amphitheater. Each and every one of us has watched our favorite bands play on that stage, and we are kicking ass every day to make that dream happen.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

Hands down we would love to perform with Slipknot, Disturbed, Korn, Lamb of God & System of a Down.

9. Whom not?

Very good question! Honestly, we listen to anyone and everyone as long as whatever band it is ISN’T in the social media news for being total douches or ass-hats we would love to play with anyone. We just want to have a great fun time with our shows and tours.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Absolutely! Each and every one of us was nervous early on. The things are that there is no one answer to beat it. The jitters eventually start to go away the more shows you play. A great tip we advise to everyone is ALWAYS to record your shows or have a friend do it. After the show is over we all go “ Hell yeah we killed it!!” then after watching the film (Like a sports player haha) we go “ Oh my god, I look like hot garbage on stage”. Luckily we all support each other and help each other with criticism to get better and make every show better than our last.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I’d say the core of inspiration that we all have in common is the mothership Metallica. Those guys are like the holy grail of metal and we all have some kind of inspiration from them.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Oh man, another good one! There have been a couple crazy ones, but one of the ones we can remember is asking to play their birthday party. WE WERE HONORED but was quite in the cards for us to make it happen. Plus, we didn’t want to make his family break the house apart from all the moshing.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We absolutely love our fans! When we were just starting we had these die-hard followers that we couldn’t thank enough for continuing to support us. Really did help us keep pushing during the rough times.

14. What do you think of our site?

Love your site, Honestly. It is amazing what you are doing for all the bands out there. It’s people that do what you do that help keep the dream alive for us musicians and bands.

15. Something to add?

Just want to say thank you to everyone that read our interview, thank you to breathing the core, and thank you to our fans. You’re all the fu**ing best! We are working on our new single and it's coming fast, so be ready!
