Interviews: Kamikaze Zombie
In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Crossover/Thrash Metal band Kamikaze Zombie from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
I came up with the name with the help of a friend (Regan) from work. We just passed names back and forth till she said what about kamikaze Zombie. The rest is history. One thing I would like to point out is the name is just a name and we try steering clear of anything doing with ww2 japan or anything like that.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I wanted to do something different from what was going on our area. I wanted to do something where we could just be free. No rules.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
I knew Steve before the band. He and I were in a band together back in yearly 2000. We meet Terry from another band that he was playing with at the time. We needed a new drummer for KZ and we ask Terry to join. We met Zac over a decade ago. He was in a few bands here in town and was friends with a lot of our friends. Zac came into KZ about a year ago when our last bassist stepped down.
4. Each band member favorite band?
Steve’s favorite band is Pantera
Terry is favorite Judas Priest
Zack’s favorite band is Black Sabbath
Myself (Clint) I’m not sure but, at the moment I would say Slayer or Black Flag
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Everyday life really, people say it’s horror movies and shit. Which is defiantly part of KZ but, it’s not the only thing. I write our lyrics in metaphors.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig we played was our Album Release show for “The Destroyer of All Things”. It was great fun!! We had an awesome turnout and people really dig the new album which is GREAT!!
7. Where would you like to act?
I’m not too sure on the question. But if you’re asking where we would like to play? Anywhere that will have us. I would have loved to have had the chance to play CBGB’s back in the day.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
I would Love to do a tour with our buds in Child Bite with headliners Superjoint. I think that the tour would slay. Touring with Ghoul, Gwar or Negative Approach would fucking rule as well.
9. Whom not?
We try not to say no. If we can make one new fan it’s worth it.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
EVERYONE gets it from time to time. If they say they don’t they’re fucking lying.
Tips: Everyone has their own way of doing things. Steve and Zack like to drink a few beers and hang out with people. Steve also likes to warm up on guitar and run scales; Terry puts his drums together by himself. I like to take a walk or I’ll find some place to hide and do vocal warm-ups. I like to do some light workouts push-ups, squats, good stretches. I have a martial arts background so I get my head in the zone as I would for a fight. But everyone is different and there is no right or wrong way. You just gotta do you. One last thing I would say, just like in American Football, before we go on we huddle and pump up each other. It's super important to go on stage as a TEAM.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Man a lot it changes from member to member. But the bands they have inspired Steve and me while writing the most are Slayer, Pantera, The New Orleans scene LA and DC punk bands.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Most people are really fucking cool. Not sure honestly
13. What do you think of your fans?
I fucking LOVE them!! We have the greatest fans and they support us no matter what. We would be nowhere without them it just is glorified band practices.
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s awesome.
