Interviews: THE LESS FORTUNATE
In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Nu-Metal band THE LESS FORTUNATE from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Back when the band was first starting out we would all sit around a throw band names at each other. Usually, somebody wouldn't like or agree so we kinda didn't have a name for a while. One day Logan (drummer) came in and was like "what do you think of The Less Fortunate" and everybody was like that's cool and it stuck. Then it kind of developed into this idea of " we are all The Less Fortunate" Everyday people battling everyday struggles which in turn is what most of our songs are about. Which is overcoming adversity.
2. Why did you want to play this Genre?
Well we are all into heavier music. Due to those influences, this is just the way our music comes together.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
It kinda started with Bill (bassist) and Logan just jamming together. Wanting to start a band they jammed with several guitarists. One of which knew Cory (vocalist) and brought him in. After struggling to look for a guitarist for awhile Logan got an old high school buddy Dalton (guitarist) to come over. He was an instant fit after the 1st practice. At this point, we're a 4 piece writing music and just starting. Then Logan started dating Blanca (Vocalist) and she just fell right into place as our clean vocalist. Nolan (guitarist) was a later add after the band was established and filled the shoes for a 2nd guitarist perfectly.
4. Each band member favorite band?
Cory: Lamb of God
Blanca: Underoath
Dalton: Korn
Nolan: Dying Fetus
Bill: Slipknot
Logan: The Devil Wears Prada
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Sometime we will start jamming and hit something we really like and then we will start forming it into a song as a group during practice. And other times 1 of the guitarist will have something and work on it with Logan. After they have a foundation for the song they will bring it to practice then we kinda go from there.
6. Where was your last gig?
4/20 we played in Kansas City MO at the 8th street union for a festival called "Artist helping the homeless" we always jump on benefits shows like this one.
7. Where would you like to act?
Right now we are trying to expand and start touring on small runs to reach new places. We just hope to keep growing and to reach more people.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
We are really good friends with a Kansas City local called. "€ounterfeit" I think if we did a feature there vocalist Jesse Balmer would be a good fit. But that's just an idea.
9. Whom not?
There's nobody specific.
10. Any of you ever suffer from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat?
Oyeah lol, I think we all did our first few shows. My best advice would just make sure you're well practiced and ready before hitting the stage. But the only thing you can do is to go through it. The more shows you play the more comfortable you will feel.
11. What bands have inspired most?
I think all of our favorite bands would be a good example. Seems like we all like the 90s nu-metal bands and the newer Metalcore bands.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has asked for?
Honestly not too sure on this one.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We absolutely love our fans. The amount of support we receive really exceeds all of our expectations we are just happy to be where we are at and continue to grow. We truly couldn't be here without them.
What do you think of our site?
A: We always appreciate anybody helping the smaller bands and helping push everybody. This is what the scene is about.
15. Something to add?
A: we would just like to say thank you for having us and everybody for checking out this interview.
