Band Biographies: Jack Rabbit Slams
JACK RABBIT SLAMS are a visceral three-piece hailing from Scotland. The trio are quickly notching up a stellar reputation for delivering hi-octane and energetic live performances that are loud, infectious and stacked to the rafters with hard-hitting rock n roll. The band were conceived in 2016 by drummer Sean Love and guitarist/vocalist Rob McCombie, who started jamming after becoming disillusioned with the status quo of mainstream music. The duo combined a mutual love of metal, punk and alternative influences to create a highly animated and fresh sound. The two-piece needed a bassist, however, to expand and widen their ear-splitting sound. After a lengthy search, they drafted in Kristaps Baumanis on bass and Kris’s input helped to form and solidify their formidable sound. JACK RABBIT SLAMS cut their first EP, Cheap N Nasty, and began gigging throughout the central belt. Their single, Millionaire, enjoyed particular success, with over 1000 views in the first week of its release on YouTube.
Unfortunately, this line up was not meant to be, and Kris decided to pursue other ventures. But prayers were answered when young Edinburgh upstart Archie Rosie answered the call and replaced Kristaps as the band’s bass player. Archie quickly slotted in and assisted with completing the trio’s debut album, Crackerjack. The newly invigorated three-piece will now release the single, Crackerjack, with the full album to follow, later in the year. Vocalist & guitarist, Rob, remarks about the single: “’Crackerjack’ is angry, it’s driving, its deliberate, it’s armed to the teeth. The lyrics aren’t violent, but they’re tense, they make you feel like something’s about to happen. The zombie themed video was just something cool we wanted to do. Something different for a music video.”
With shows in the works for the remainder of the year, the time is ripe to catch this Jack Rabbit—the loudest band you’ll hear in 2019.
