Interviews: Salt River Shakedown
In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band Salt River Shakedown from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name?
You planned it or it came out just like that?
The old American phrase “rowing up a salt river” means essentially doing the impossible, and we really like the idea of being able to do that. It’s based on a real place in Arizona where there is an actual salt river.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
The style of the band really came together from a combination of all our music tastes. We are all into bands like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath but come to that from very different musical backgrounds, such as blues, grunge, metal, and punk.
3. Did you know each other before you were in the band?
A combination of high school and college friendships eventually culminated in our band.
4. Each band member favorite band?
Alek: Rival Sons
Shaun: Primus
David: Deep Purple (Coverdale era)
Jake: Queens of the Stone Age
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Most of our music is based of our life experiences. The feeling of getting together and jamming really creates a great atmosphere for creativity.
6. Where was your last gig?
We are on tour right now and played at the Eagle Inn in Manchester tonight, which was a blast.
7. Where would like to play?
We would really love to head out and explore the rest of Europe and then onto America.

8. Who would you like to support?
Any of the bands that inspire us would be an incredible experience, but specifically, right now Rival Sons are putting on some incredible shows we would love to be a part of.
9. Who not?
We are open to playing all kinds of musical acts in any style of music.... but Coldplay.
10. Any of you experienced stage fright? Any tips for beginners?
We are very lucky in that on stage is where we are most comfortable. We get nervous sometimes but generally, it’s not a huge issue for us. The best advice we can give is that practice makes perfect. Just get out and play as many shows as you can.
11. What bands inspire you the most?
Our biggest influences as a band are definitely Led Zeppelin and Rival Sons. The spectacle of their live shows really make us push ourselves on stage, and their willingness to experiment musically is hugely inspirational to us.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has asked you for?
Honestly, our fans are pretty chill people so we don’t have too many exciting stories. Apart from that time somebody stole Shaun’s sock. He’s still waiting to get that back. It’s been 3 years. Derek.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We feel like we can relate with our fans strongly since they tend to be into the same type of music we are, which makes it less of a separate thing and more of a community. We always find we can have a laugh with our fans.
14. What do you think of our site?
We think it’s awesome that there are people out there willing to support up and coming bands. It’s a tricky industry to be a part of and we all need to help each other out.
15. Something to add?
You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube and check out our brand new ep “Road To The Sacred Island” when it’s released on July 19th!
