Interviews: Become The Murderer
In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Become The Murderer from Spain. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
“Become the Murderer” came up to our minds like a reflexion of the message that
we would like to share with our music to the people. We think that beneath every person
there’s a reason for them for doing bad things. For example, a person who has suffered from
bullying in the childhood maybe, in the future, would do bullying too or would suffer from
depression, and it could give him or her a reason to “become a murderer”. That’s the point
when we think, in general as society, that we could do more for the human being (share
more time with others, take time to ask if someone, it’s fine or not, take action against
bullying, gender violence, racism, discrimination and all kinds of violence) before it could go
worse. We believe that’s the first step to stop violence and it makes a huge difference for a
person that could find his way to escape from the pain in bad decisions.
That’s what we talk about, killing our egocentrism and think about other persons to
make a better society trying to prevent future problems.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Because we really like it. We love metal and all its variants and we enjoy to do
headbang with the crowd.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Well, in fact, only two of us knew each other before the band was formed, Nana
(voice) and Nikai (lead guitar). They formed the band and then, one by one, the rest of the
members were selected until the final band formation. Anyway, we all get on very well and
we feel like we know each other for years.
4. Each band member favorite band?
Persian (rhythm guitar): Converge
Galen (bass): Deftones
Nana (voice): Of Mice and Men
Nikai (lead guitar): Avenged
Sevenfold
Thanatos (drums): Lamb of God
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
The biggest inspiration for the songs it’s the topic that we mentioned before about
the name of the band: the fight against violence. Most of us (or the people close to us) know
at first hand how it feels to be bullied, to be a victim of discrimination or violence. All of our
experiences forged our lyrics and our instrumental.
On the other hand, the inspiration of this EP, in particular, it’s an imaginary person
who leads a life of cruelty because he is suffering from isolation, incomprehension, and the
ravages of violence. He/she feels that doesn’t deserve that and asks for a helping hand that
could help him/her through his/her problems.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was in Madrid, in Ya’Sta Club, where we felt like home.
7. Where would you like to act?
We would like to perform in as many stages as possible, we don’t have a
particular interest in one place. Nevertheless, we would be grateful to have the chance to
take the step to the national festivals like Download or Resurrection despite the fact that we
like to play in small places because you can be close to the fans and interact with them.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Any band that could be interested in us. Of course, we would like to have features
with all the bands that have inspired us like Jinjer or Memphis May Fire, but it’s too
complicated. Regarding the national bands of our country, we are sure that we would choose
bands like The Fall of Atlantis, The Broken Horizon or Teksuo for the featuring.
9. Whom not?
We are not closed to any feature, every band and artist it’s welcome.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to
beat that?
Of course we have had stage fright, and sometimes we still have. To be at the
level of what your fans deserve and request from you it’s a huge responsibility, so every time we hit the stage we get nervous.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
There are a lot of bands that have influenced us, for example, Ice Nine Kills,
Parkway Drive, Motionless in White, Memphis May Fire, Of Mice and Men, Jinjer,
Architects...
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
That is a funny question. We still remember when in one break between songs in
a concert, a fan shouted us to play one song of Camela (a very famous gypsy band from
Spain). We were really shocked because didn’t expect that and then we started to laugh
until we could restart again the setlist.
13. What do you think of your fans?
What could we say...They are amazing, they give us all that we have got:
inspiration, the will to go on and the biggest sensation of happiness. They are incredible and
everything for us.
14. What do you think of our site?
We really love your work because you give prominence to new bands from all
around the world and that’s a remarkable effort for knowing what’s cooking.
15. Something add?
Keep on supporting metal !!
