Interviews: BLACKHEARTH
In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Metal/Heavy Metal band BLACKHEARTH from Spain. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Alex: Well, I came up with it while I was having a bath. I swear I am not lying! That is the truth of the matter. It seemed like the perfect title.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Alex: Oh! Because it makes me happy since I was a little boy. The more I went to see live shows, the more into heavy metal I got and this music in general. For me personally, traditional Heavy Metal and Progressive Metal are my two favorite types of Metal to listen to, and I get a huge buzz from bands that are right in the center of the two styles. I made a point to not take into consideration what anyone else was going to think about what I was doing. I don’t think we could be any happier with the outcome.
Asier: I've been listening to these musical styles since I was a child, the paternal influence had a lot to do. In my case, Heavy Metal and Power Metal are the styles that have marked me mainly, although over the years I have been opening my mind to the Progressive, Death and other styles.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Alex: Yeah! Asier and I have known each other for years and were friends before we were bandmates. I think we have been very lucky that we’ve always had the same out-look from a musical point of view, so there was never need for requirements. In (about) early 2017 we started taking things a lot more seriously and decided to be an actual band and write original material.
Asier: We understand each other very well, knowing each other so much makes things easier, there is a lot of confidence, these are important within a band, so we can tell ourselves the things we think. In addition to this, we share the same goals to which musically refers, so we both work hard to achieve it.
4. Each band member favorite band?
Alex: Iron Maiden is absolutely on the top of the list for me.
Asier: Helloween has been my great reference since I heard the 'Keeper Of The Seven Keys'.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Alex: Our environment has influenced us in our music. Some of the lyrics are really socially realistic and others are more full of escapism and it’s really facing reality or finding a way to escape. A good song is like a good movie, in that if you can make three and a half minutes feel like seven and a half minutes, you have got a good song. The trick is making sure that those stories don’t sound stale.
6. Where was your last gig?
Alex: Our last show was at the Karikato Club in Ermua, Basque Cowntry, but that was a long time ago.
Asier: It has been a long time since that last concert. The last year we have focused on the recording of the album, but we hope soon to be able to return to the stage with more force and that people can enjoy with our music.
7. Where would you like to act?
Alex: I would love to be able to play in Europe, at a big festival like 'Wacken' or something like that. It would be nice!
Asier: Going out of the country to give some concerts would be one of the objectives, there are many festivals in Europe where it would be great to be able to take part someday.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Alex: Obviously Iron Maiden would definitely be the top choice for me.
Asier: The list is long but evidently being Helloween my favorite band would love to play with them
9. Whom not?
Alex: Nothing to answer.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Alex: Not really. You have to consistently do it to get over. I love the way we’re playing live, and I can’t ever see a time when I would want to stop making music with this band. That’s the way I deal with it. I’m having a blast.
Asier: Not for now, I hope it never happens. There are always nerves before going out to act, it is normal especially because we have not had the opportunity to play much. But once you finish the first song you feel at home
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Alex: Don’t even know where to begin… some major ones are Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, King Diamond, Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, Savatage, Queensryche, basically.
Asier: There are many bands, usually in my case bands of the German scene like Rage, Helloween, Blind Guardian. While having other great bands like Iced Earth, Stratoviarius ...
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Alex: Mmmm... we're still a bunch of nobodies!
Asier: For now nothing, we'll see what happens
13. What do you think of your fans?
Alex: I think most fans in this day and age know that bands are mostly just normal people. I guess we just feel that we aren't above anyway, we're all equals you know?
Asier: We are very grateful for the support of our fans, hopefully with the release of the album more people follow the group and help us growing up
14. What do you think of our site?
Alex: Interesting site, love it! All content on this website is fantastic. We appreciate the support!
Asier: It is a fantastic site. We must thank you for having this kind of websites that support and help the bands showing their content.
15. Something add?
Alex: This will be our first year playing. We really don’t know what to expect besides having a good time. We can’t wait to hit the stage and burn it to the ground. I hope people like it.
