Interviews: Caustic Minds
In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band Caustic Minds from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Honestly, the former singer came up with it, we tried to look for a better name when she left but some people already knew us with this name, so we just went along with it.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
It just felt natural for the band to follow this path because of our tastes and influences.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, we just met during music school, started to jam out some stuff and eventually formed the band.
4. Each band member favorite band?
Laura: The Kills
- Dani: Arctic Monkeys
- Michi: Sum 41
- Chris: Queens Of The Stone Age
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Any type of feeling we strongly have the moment we start songwriting. Any weird or cheesy storyline that comes to mind is added in the pot and we try to cook the best we can do at the moment.
Also, we listen constantly to our favourite bands and artists, that gives us a major push to thrive for more.
6. Where was your last gig?
We played in Wild At Heart in Berlin: hot and steamy. It was fire!
7. Where would you like to play?
Any big festival there is around really, like: Rock am Ring, Glastonbury, Rock Werchter, Vive Latino, etc.
8. Who would you like to support?
We would love to support Queens Of The Stone Age!
9. Who not?
We don’t like bands that treat every show as a competition and feel they need to better than the rest. Just have a good time playing your music and support your fellow musicians.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
We all had it in the beginning but the best thing to boost your confidence on stage is to be with people you trust and can depend on. There is nothing better than to play on stage with your friends.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Queens Of The Stone Age, they have a unique sound and the song structures are unpredictable and always interesting. Arctic Monkeys, we love the early work and the sonic personality they have. The Dead Weather, they are a band that was born on the road and is formed by talented musicians that compose killer tunes.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
So far, one time after a show some girls came up to the stage and asked for pictures with Laura, then one of the girls asked if she was gay and kind of asked her out, (fun fact: she’s bi) and it became a little awkward since she didn’t know how to react, but in the end we got a new fan.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They have been lovely and very supportive during our shows and each time we perform we want to give them a hell of a performance, a punch in the face (in a good way).
14. What do you think of our site?
Your website is pretty cool! It's a nice initiative having a band of the day interviews for indie bands that are introduced to the scene.
15. Something to add?
Yeah, thank you for this interview, don’t do drugs with stupid people and stay in school.
