Interviews: Earthbound
In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Earthbound from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
It’s a Bury Tomorrow Album, a King Crimson Live Album, and a classic Nintendo game: take your pick!
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We are a melting point of influences, drawing from the wide variety of music that we all individually and collectively enjoy. Our sound encompasses all our favourite aspects of various styles of metal, while also taking inspiration from funk, progressive rock and jazz so I think we naturally just settled into the sound that we are.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
A few of us were friends from school who met up after uni looking to start a band and enter the live circuit. We then met our newest member John through the Hertfordshire metal scene at the great local venue Club 85.
4. Each band member favorite band?
Louie - Killswitch Engage
Tom - Black Sabbath
John - Symphony X
Rickie - Iron Maiden
Chris - Coheed and Cambria
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I guess we just love writing music, I think it's a fantastic outlet for all of us, so we are all inspired to create it because music is such a big part of our lives
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was supporting Outright Resistance alongside Dreadbeggar at The Green Rooms in Welwyn Garden City, it was a great local show for us.
7. Where would you like to play?
I think as well as some great UK cities we’d love to play like Manchester, Birmingham etc, I think we’d all love to get the chance to do some European dates in the next couple of years.
8. Who would you like to support?
I guess the dream would support some of our metal heroes such as Iron Maiden or Gojira who have been such an inspiration to us growing up and when writing.
9. Who not?
We wouldn’t want to support any band that was racist, bigoted or do not support LGBTQ+ rights. We really have no time for those kinds of people.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I think nerves are really natural, especially when you first start playing live, but I think it's important to try and channel that nervous energy into an energetic live show and try to enjoy every minute on stage because we are lucky to get to do it.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Iron Maiden, Trivium, Soilwork and Arch Enemy.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Not quite being asked for something but one person came up to our singer after a show, rubbed his torso and said that our EP “needed a lot of work”. For sure the weirdest fan encounter we’ve had.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We are genuinely grateful for anyone that checks our music, and buys our merch and comes to support us at shows. We have so many great friends, especially in the Hertfordshire Metal scene who have completely embraced us and its really lovely to have that network.
14. What do you think of our site?
I think it’s a great site full of great interviews and reviews! I like how it’s organised by subgenre so you can jump to what you are into.
