Interviews: Hellbound Hearts

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock/Metal band Hellbound Hearts from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Danny is a big fan of horror movies and his favorite since being a kid is Hellraiser. The original book by Clive Barker which was adapted into the film was called “The Hellbound Heart”

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It was not planned to play in a specific style/genre. The music that comes out naturally sounds like it does then people try to categorize it. It spans a few genre.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Lee and Danny have known each other for about 18 years but Lee did not join the band until 2015/16. Craig joined the band around 2014 after Danny responded to an ad he posted for a band and a chance exchange at Prague Airport and Nathan came in in 2018 and was one of the original engineers on the first attempt recording of Film Noir which was scrapped.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Danny - Gaslight Anthem

Craig – Black Label Society

Lee – Foo Fighters / Biffy Clyro (I'm greedy so wanted two bands)

Nathan - Sylosis

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

General dismay at the modern world, movies, life experience.

6. Where was your last gig?

Key Club, Leeds, UK. We launched our last album there so were keen to get on again. It’s a great venue that has some top acts through its doors.

7. Where would you like to perform?

Hammersmith Apollo - UK Markthalle - Hamburg Every venue in the USA, especially the KFC Yum! Centre in Louisville, KY lee and Nathan love fried chicken.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

Springsteen, Gaslight Anthem, Stone Sour, Lady Gaga, Foo Fighters, Royal Blood, Ghost.

9. Whom not?

Ed Sheeran!!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Not that I’m aware of, pre-flight nerves are a good thing. Having a pre-gig beer always helps but I guess we cannot advocate drinking. And our drummer Lee always has his eyes closed when he plays, so he probably misses half of the Gig. 

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Danny: For me great bands with a great work ethic and consistent quality like Paradise Lost.

Lee: Lamb of God. Hard-working band, with many ups and downs but just keep on getting better and better.

Nathan: This is probably the most cliché one but Metallica is the band that made me want to play guitar, but my main inspiration and guitar hero is John Petrucci.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing has shocked us to date.

13. What do you think of your fans?

If you write a song/record it and put it out then drive hundreds of miles to play at a venue at the other end of the country and people turn up to see you that you have never met before and you see them singing that song lyrics back to you, that is a very special feeling. Our fans are wonderful people.

14. What do you think of our site?

Nice, I think there are more categories of metal on there than I knew even existed! Excellent stuff!!
