Interviews: Element X

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock band Element X from Ireland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We had a vague idea of what we wanted. We wanted something that would play into the fact that all of us have different musical influences, and all these influences come together to form our sound. So we were throwing around ideas and suddenly Element X was suggested and it stuck!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Simple, it came naturally to us. When we got together at the beginning and started jamming riffs and ideas, they were all of this style and it's the music we love listening to and playing.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, all 5 of us met through Element X. We knew Hugo before he joined us but it was because one of our early gigs had his old band on the lineup also, so we met that night and became good friends, and he ended up joining us down the road.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Ian - Metallica

Rodrigo - Like A Storm

Hugo - Def Leppard

Franco - Not so much a favourite band but a favourite musician, Marco Sfogli 

Dave - Judas Priest

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life, the world around us, experiences, inspiration can really be drawn from anywhere. If you're open to it, anything can inspire you.

6. Where was your last gig?

Fibbers in Dublin. Our second home!

7. Where would you like to play?

Rock Am Ring festival. Or Wacken. Germany in general!

8. Who would you like to support?

Metallica, it doesn't get bigger than a Metallica show!

9. Who not?

Tough question, we will gig with anyone. Although the current culture of tribute or cover bands over original bands with great original music that deserves more attention and higher slots on lineups gets on our nerves. So we're not big on supporting tribute bands.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Stage fright is totally natural, but don't give in to it because being on stage and playing loud rock music is the most amazing thing. Tips, just keep in your mind that this is what it's all about, being on stage is a reward for the hard work put in in the rehearsal rooms. People are there to support you and enjoy your music, so try turn the fright into energy and adrenaline and just go for it! Or if that fails, just look at the lights, that way you can't see anyone watching you so it's all good! Another tip is just play on stage as often as possible, you will get used to it and come to love it. 

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The big 3 influences on our music have been Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Can I have your half eaten crisps? (to the lead guitar, after playing a solo)

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love them, simple as that. Every single one of them who comes to see us or enjoys our music online or buys the cd, wears the t shirts representing Element X, they are awesome and in return we always give everything we have to entertain them.

14. What do you think of our site?

Brilliant, giving attention and promotion to upcoming bands is always to be applauded. There is SO much amazing music out there that deserves to be heard.
