Interviews: The Bloody Hell

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Horror Punk band The Bloody Hell from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It was an out of the blue name, obviously a common phrase in some parts of the world but the name is meant to be more literal and give an image of Blood soaked Hell

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Not sure it was a conscious choice thing, started writing songs and the sound developed from there. But on the other hand, I've always respected and admired the punk mentality and approach towards songwriting so maybe it was conscious. Also, I'm not the most technically proficient guitar player so the punk rock is in my wheelhouse so to say. Other genres can be very theory-driven and importance placed on being complicated and outside the box, punk is more about energy and emotion and I can identify much more with that approach to songwriting and performing

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Sean and I had played together in some cover projects and Kyle and I had worked together a few times in various bands. I met James for the first time when he came to audition but he fit in right away.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Sean's favorite band is The tragically hip My favorite band is probably Nirvana or Pink Floyd Kyle loves his doom and stoner rock, Melvins and Sleep And James is all over the map, not sure what he would call his favourite.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I write about personal experiences mostly, sometimes I wrapped them in metaphors other times I'm very blatant with the lyrics but they are all personal experience translated into song.

6. Where was your last gig?

We just played last night, an artist showcase at Nova Scotia Music Week Festival, in Truro NS

7. Where would you like to act?

If you mean preform then we are hoping to play some festivals this summer as well as a maritime tour.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

So many, we are always grateful to share the stage with other bands, touring or local, big or small.

9. Whom not?

Bands with huge egos, or bad attitudes.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Sure, it's impossible not to get nervous before a big gig, just know your parts and have confidence in your abilities, some people calm their stage fright by drinking, doesn't work for me though, I get sloppier and my confidence to perform properly falls apart.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Nirvana, Misfits, Motorhead, the Beatles, Tom Petty, I'm inspired by so many bands from so many genres. Passion and a well-written song is what inspires me
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

It was with a different band but I signed a girls butt once, that was a weird gig

13. What do you think of your fans?

We are grateful and love our fans, the music industry is a tough game and there are literally thousands of great bands so when people connect with our three-chord punk band it always means the world to us. If we play a terrible gig, get denied for this or that or face the setbacks this industry throws at you daily, you can't help but doubt yourself or your art, but then you sell an album or some merch to someone halfway around the world or even in your own city and it makes up for the rest. Fans make it worth while.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's great, going above and beyond to help promote and support emerging bands and artists, gotta love and respect that.

15. Something add?

Thanks for everything you do.
