Interviews: Jet Jaguar
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Metal band Jet Jaguar from Mexico. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Pete Zen: The name Jet Jaguar not only sounds rock n roll, but is rock n roll. He's a robot character from a old Godzilla movie that can do flying kicks and shoot lasers from his eyes. He's pretty much as sick as it can get as far as robots can go, so we had to name our band after him.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Chris Hetz: From a young age I was exposed to rock music. From watching MTV, to hearing classic rock songs in my parents car, I was always drawn to the energy and performance behind it. I knew it would be something that would define the rest of my life.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Pete Benigno: I met Pete Zen at a Brighton bar show back in 2018 with my old band When in Doubt, and he was still in Hang Tight. My band ended up recording a single with him and a few months later he hit me up to join his new project. I had never formally met Chris or Nicky prior to us first jamming but I knew of them from local shows. Now we're all best buds!
4. Each band member favourite band?
Pete B: Issues, blink-182, Belmont
Chris Hetz: Saves The Day, White Reaper, The Strokes
Nicky: Queen, Microwave, Nothing
Pete Zen: Sum 41, Have Heart, Everclear
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Chris Hetz: Who or what inspires you to write songs? I'm inspired most by the idea of having a legacy behind a name. I want jet jaguar to be iconic and memorable.
6. Where was your last gig?
Pete Benigno: Our most recent show was at a house venue in Richmond Virginia. It was only our second show ever and we had the entire room moving, we had crowd surfers that could’ve had their heads cut off if the ceiling fan was turned on. A good time all around.
7. Where would you like to act?
Pete Benigno: We want to play everywhere. All 7 continents. We will melt the faces of polar bears in Antarctica.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
The Story So Far, Foo Fighters, Avril Lavigne, Metallica.
9. Whom not?
I dont think we'd want to play with a band that wears like cheetah print pants. Actually I take that back, thats kinda tight. We'll play with anybody.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Pete Zen: When I was younger, the first couple shows I was definitely very nervous. The best thing to do is to realize thats your body telling you that you are out of your comfort zone, but thats a good thing. Once you get past the first couple nerves, it goes away and you can soon rip. Just own it, shred, and yell very loudly into the mic when sound checking so people know you mean business.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Chris Hetz: Bands that have songs ill get never get sick of, like beach slang, white reaper, and saves the day.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Chris Hetz: I've had a fan ask us if we could sell jet jaguar tooth brushes and honestly its not a bad idea.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Pete Zen: Anybody who supports our music or us as people, we love you more than anybody else could ever possibly love you in the entire world.
14. What do you think of our site?
It's a great site and we appreciate you giving us the opportunity to be a part of it!
