Interviews: A New Hope
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Easycore band A New Hope from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
It comes from the Star Wars film as you probably expect. Josh and Ben are big Star Wars fans, and Jamie suggested the name as a way of enticing them into the project.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Most of us had been playing in other bands before A New Hope, that had a more serious vibe. This genre is all about having fun and goofing about, which really appealed to us.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We pretty much all knew each other in one way or another, through playing in other bands.
4. Each band member favorite band?
Josh – We Came As Romans
Ben – Issues
Ali – Metallica
Jamie – Blink 182
Braydie – Roam
Chris – Christina Aguilera
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
The songs usually start out with the guitar parts, the inspiration generally comes from whatever Ben is listening to at the time. Vocally, the inspiration comes from events, friendships, and relationships in Josh’s life.
6. Where was your last gig?
The Face Bar, Reading. The great little venue, we’ve all grown up watching some of our peers play there.
7. Where would you like to play?
Slam Dunk festival would be the holy grail for us.
8. Who would you like to support?
The obvious choices and the bands we owe a lot of sound to; A Day To Remember and Chunk, No Captain Chunk!
9. Who not?
Any band with a political agenda. It’s an ideal platform and we respect bands who do it, but it’s just not our vibe.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Not for a long time, but we’d say to just try and enjoy it, imagine you’re just in a practice room.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
There’s the obvious ones like A Day To Remember, Chunk No Captain Chunk and Four Year Strong, but we definitely draw from a wider range of influences, like Issues, Periphery, Architects and even some chart music.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
“One more song”
13. What do you think of your fans?
They must have terrible taste in music. Joking aside, we think they’re great, it’s really humbling to have people genuinely excited about our music.
14. What do you think of our site?
Great hub for upcoming bands, keep up the good work!
