Interviews: Nightlives

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Electro/Punk band Nightlives from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Ryan: We used to stay up mad late, playing horror games and generally just having a laugh so we thought the name was an appropriate choice.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Taf: We try not to stick to genres, we play anything and everything that we feel like playing. We find it best not to limit ourselves to what genres we can and can’t incorporate into our music, that way we can always keep things fresh.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Taf: We’re all Cardiff Music Scene veterans, and we’ve all played in a number of different bands throughout the years.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Taf: My Chemical Romance

Ryan: Red Hot Chili Peppers

Arwel: Queens of the Stone Age

Caleb: Periphery

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Taf: When I write our lyrics, I tend to just write about issues or circumstances that I feel like shouting about on stage. We have songs with political leanings, and some that are more personal. Something I really love though is narrative songwriting, so I’m sure that’s something you’ll see from our lyrics in the future!

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was a headline show at Le Pub in Newport, but we’re headlining Cardiff’s Clwb Ifor Bach on November 8th!

7. Where would you like to play?

Arwel: Madison Square Garden would be mad. Probably not our scene but we do like different.

8. Who would you like to support?

Ryan: It would be a dream come true to support someone like Rage Against the Machine. We all agree that we would absolutely love to support Don Broco though as they have a similarly wild mindset when it comes to music videos and their live shows.

9. Who not?

Celine Dion.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Taf: I regularly get anxiety before shows. I grew up acting on stage and performing in musicals, and I used to be so comfortable on stage before my teens when I lost a lot of my self confidence. You just need to push through it and put yourself out there, no matter how scary it may seem. You’ll always be proud that you tried.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Enter Shikari, RATM, Periphery, Don Broco.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Ryan: A fan once asked us to eat Chinese with their Nan and watch the full Shrek saga. This was during a manor house auction scene we were filming for our new music video.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love them all. Big up the Sleepless Club!

15. Something to add?

Our new single and music video “Ways of Making You Talk” comes out on November 8th. We literally made an action spy thriller and turned it into a music video. Please check it out, it’s got a car chase!
