Interviews: Fvneral Fvkk
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Doom Metal band Fvneral Fvkk from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
The name was the very first thing this band had. At the beginning we planned on playing
much faster, more brutal stuff, and thus chose a fitting name. Later we dropped the raw
approach and turned towards more epic Doom Metal. But we decided to keep the name. Some
people say it does not fit. We even discussed changing it, but this is how the band was born,
so we decided to keep it.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Everyone in the band may have had different reasons. For me personally, I never chose to
play Doom Metal. When I started writing songs, it just turned out that my emotional and
intellectual motivations could be expressed best in slow, crushing, depressing music. So it
turned out to be Doom!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, we all knew each other, and I have played with all other members in bands before. Not
always at the same time, though.
4. Each band member favorite band?
Buddy, if you can name ONE single favourite band, you don’t know enough bands. Therefor
we can’t answer this question, we all have at least 20 different favourite bands.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Well, lyrically it should be completely obviuos. I mean, come on! Musically, it is mainly the
urge to express ourselves and to reflect a dark side within us, that can’t be expressed
otherwise.
6. Where was your last gig?
In a German city named Braunschweig.
7. Where would you like to act?
Wherever we are invited to play. Especially where lots of catholics live, haha.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Man, imagine what would happen if we opened a show for Creed, haha. Me personally, I had
the privilege to share the stage with most of my most important influent bands. Not with
Fvneral Fvkk, but that does not make difference for me. Touring with Count Raven might be
another highlight, but that will probably never happen. They are christian, after all.
9. Whom not?
All these fucking commercial plastic fake metal bands out there. Sabaton and all this pathetic
shit. Fuck that! I’d rather play in cheap bars for the rest of my life than playing with such
posers.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat
that?
I did, 20 years ago when I started playing live. Today, I don’t have stage fright at all, not
even a little. Here is my advice:
1) Know your songs! When you can perform them in your
sleep, you are ready to enter stage.
2) Accept the fact that you will have a few mistakes on
stage. It can NOT be avoided, no matter how good you are. Trying to fight it only makes it
worse. The sooner you fully accept that, the less fear you will have.
3) Don’t take it all too
serious. One single fucked up gig does not ruin your career.
4) Know your equipment in and
out. The less you need to concentrate on technical stuff, the more you can concentrate on
your performance.
5) Do NOT focus on the audience. Focus on your instrument, try to avoid
looking into the crowd. Instead fix a spot at the bar, the door or something and keep your
focus on the playing.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
This band is deeply influenced by bands such as Solitude Aeternus, Count Raven, Procession,
Candlemass… We are influenced by other acts too, but that’s mainly for our other bands.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Once we had to cancel a show because of severe illness, and one fan wrote an email asking to
see a doctor’s attestation! Oh, and he also demanded to choose the setlist for our next show!
Really!
13. What do you think of your fans?
They are alright, but I wish there were more underaged boys.
14. What do you think of our site?
I like the mixture of genres, and I like the design. But if you want my real and honest
opinion: I do not like the fact, that all the bands get the same questions just copy-pasted. It
reads quite generic and a bit careless. No offense! But that’s my honest opinion.
15. Something add?
The dirtier your bible, the cleaner your soul!
