Interviews: The Oneira

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Rock band The Oneira from Greece/Germany and Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Filippos: Pretty simple...make music after my degree was my biggest dream, Oneira means dream in Greek, we add THE just because we’re not the only Oneira in the musical field. Our music is so visionary, the band name really fits. 

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Danilo: Filippos marks the band’s path. We’re really into 80 prog music plus a bit of metal flavor. This is our legacy and it came out very spontaneous...

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Danilo: Not at all, Filippos and Banjo form this project...me and Manuel (Vox) came into the picture for the second album “Hyperconscious”. Oliver Philipps, our producer is a mutual friend. We played in some other musical projects across metal and prog.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Danilo: Too many to mention, for me: Yes, Rush, Death, Iron Maiden, The Police, Cynic, Meshuggah, the whole Italian prog scene.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Filippos: Landscapes, pictures, some personal stories and everything in between. Danilo and Manuel wrote the lyrics, sometimes I suggest some titles or ideas.

Danilo: is very challenging, every time music is already written then lyrics came out at the very end.

6. Where was your last gig?

Danilo: Right now we’re not a live band but will see in the future, we’re open for that. We just want to prepare this in order to make the best show possible. There are a lot of things going on in our music.

7. Where would you like to act?

Filippos: Pretty much everywhere...Play music for someone is the best part of this job no matter if it’s happening in a stadium or a little Bar.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Danilo: There are too many artists that we wanna collaborate for. This must happen for mutual respect and not for Label issues.

9. Whom not?

Danilo: Everyone who loves drugs more than music.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Danilo: Never...I like to be on stage, this is the best party ever.

Filippos: quite sometimes.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Filippos: I think Rush, Def Leppard, Rick Springfield, Nik Kershaw, Styx, Journey, Yes. 

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Danilo: That happened in other situations, from the Oneira side nothing too weird by my side, the Oneira fans seem to be very polite and focus to the music

13. What do you think of your fans?

Danilo: They are spread worldwide...that’s the best, it means our music has no borders, I love it.

14. What do you think of our site?

Filippos: Very cool and informative. A very good space to enjoy music and more.
