Interviews: Dohny Jep

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band Dohny Jep, from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Stuart came up with that name while at University so he has been holding on to that name for years! When we were coming up with a name we trialed that and it just totally worked for us and our approach.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We’ve all performed in really heavy bands in the past and we all love a bit of pop music and lighter catchier rock so we wanted to take a stab at that this time and it seems to be really clicking with us!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Stuart and Wayne met during Freshers week at Uni and they became good mates straight off. A year later they met Rowan when looking for a drummer for their band and he was the perfect dude for the job.Stuart and Pete met many years later when introduced via the twin sisters they were both dating. Once they started talking about music and their love of playing live and wanting to take things really far with music, it was clear that Dohny Jep would eventually come to be.

Rowan - Periphery

Wayne - sleep token

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

So many things inspire our songwriting, mostly personal connections with the lyrical content.

6. Where was your last gig?

In our heads or at a rehearsal!… We are yet to gig, unfortunately. We had our first shows lined up for April but then the pandemic reared it’s ugly head so we are now just playing the waiting game like everyone else!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Everyone who has ever been a musician has suffered from stage fright, the best way to counter it is to be prepared, that in turn gives you confidence, either that or get pissed!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Don Broco, Bring Me The Horizon, Nothing But Theives, Twenty One Pilots, The 1975

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

“We want shops”…. -We are yet to actually open any! Haha

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our mums are very supportive.
