Interviews: Glostik Willy
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hippy Metal band Glostik Willy, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
We
came up with Glostik Willy because of an early obsession with glow sticks.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Our style has been developed from a wide variety of influences
including everything from jam bands to heavy metal.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We have been playing together more than
half our lives. The drummer and guitarist are brothers and met the bass player in middle school band
class. We had a jam session the day we met and have been playing together ever since, almost 18
years now.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Jay Moe, Metallica. Buddha, Oysterhead. RalfMowf, Ozzy
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Each song writes itself. Sometimes the inspiration is the music itself, other times, words themselves.
The inspiration comes in many forms. Most of our music is written about the experiences we’ve had
together on the road or the people we’ve come across. Sometimes you find inspiration in the strangest
of places.
6. Where was your last gig?
The
Yellow Cab in Dayton, Ohio
7. Where would you like to act?
All
over the world!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Ozzy
9. Whom not?
U2
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I feel everyone suffers stage fright at some point in time. The best thing that has helped me is
remembering to breathe and remember it’s just another show, no matter how big the
show/opportunity is, the show must go on! The hardest part of getting on stage for the first time is
convincing yourself that the audience isn’t going to be as critical on you as you are to yourself. Just get
on stage and give it 110% and you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the reaction you get.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Black Sabbath, Metallica, Phish, Grateful Dead
12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
A pair of 22 day old dirty tour
socks.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Our fans are family to us! We try to go out of our way to
make a personal connection with every fan we can. It has created a giant network of
friends/family members that now stretches coast to coast.
14. What do you think of our site?
The site is awesome! We always love to see people
supporting artists and help get the word out about our new music. It seems like you cover
a wide variety of music and we are happy to be a part of it!
