Interviews: Solar Flare

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Power Metal band Solar Flare, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It’s pretty much the typical story. We all sat around thinking of names until we found one that wasn’t in use by anyone else (at the time).

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I have major influences from the direction. Love the classical style especially from the semi-opera style vocals.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Garian and I were in a band together previously. I met Mark when I played with his former band Split the abyss. Jordan also played with Garian at one point, and he knew mark for awhile. And cody we hired on Craigslist. Haha!

4. Each band member favorite band?

Myself: Iron Maiden

Mark: Riot

Garian: Iron Maiden

Jordan: Ministry

Cody: Lynyrd Skynyrd

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

My personal inspiration comes a bit at random. I just get a sound or a big sexy hook in my head, and try to flesh it out. In terms of themes I mostly pull from things that provoke thought or things that sound cool I guess. I know that’s a boring answer.

6. Where was your last gig?

Columbus, Ohio.

7. Where would you like to act?

I assume you mean what place would I like to play at. There’s a few dream places; Wacken Open Air, Madison Square Garden, Eventim Apollo (formerly Hammersmith Odeon), Riverbend Music Center.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Orphaned Land, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Hammerfall, and Iced Earth to keep the list short. 9. Whom not? I don’t know if there’s anyone I completely wouldn’t feature with? Especially if they liked us enough to want to. Maybe anyone completely different that the audience wouldn’t get into us.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I was terrified my first time, I still sorta get nervous. Once the music starts I just have a mindset of, “these people came for a show give them one”. My tip is if you’re there to perform do your best and murder everyone gets nervous, just power through.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Queensryche, Enforcer, Hammerfall, Orphaned Land, and Blind Guardian 

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I once randomly got asked if I’d do a rap metal collab with this random fan. While I appreciate they dig what we’re doing, I don’t think it works with our audience.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Love our fans, it’s the best making music you like and it resonates with other people.

14. What do you think of our site?

Great! It’s wonderful there’s folks like yourself helping get artists out there!
