Interviews: CRYOSPHERE
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band, CRYOSPHERE, from Denmark. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Sirene: Some time ago, we had to decide on the name for our band and so each of us threw names in the mix and we democratically talked about the different names and which direction we wanted our music to take. It was a long process of talking about pros and cons, but in the end we voted. One could say that the plan for our musical path wholly began on the day we decided on the name “Cryosphere”.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We do not limit ourselves to play one genre, actually what even drives the band is the way we mix the elements from the genres we like to create something new.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Emil and Anders have known each other for almost 20 years so they did, Sirene wrote a Facebook post about searching for musicians. Emil and Anders were in another band at the time that was breaking up, Emil decided to respond to the post eventually joining CRYOSPHERE. Soon after Anders joined as well.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Anders: My favourite band if I had to choose amongst the three of mine it would be “Dead By April”.
Sirene: I don’t really have one favorite band at this time. I try not to confine myself within the borders of limitation anymore. If I were to name a single band that I have previously considered my favorite, it would be HIM.
Emil: I find it difficult to name one band. But for now the band “Red” is my favourite, their new album is amazing!
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We draw inspiration from a lot of things, sometimes it’s the nature that inspires us to write, sometimes it the systems within societies such as education, pressure to perform, family life etc. Sometimes it’s about mental health issues as well. We want to write for the audience so we tell a story about something that resonates with the listener so we can connect on another level through the music.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was a long time ago, since we had to go through lineup changes and now the worldwide pandemic, but the gig was at a festival on the little island of Denmark called Bornholm. It was at the festival “Raise Your Horns” and it was an amazing trip! We went there 2 days before the show so we could experience the rich and beautiful nature it has. We like to get culturally educated when visiting new places.
7. Where would you like to act?
One thing all of us dreams about is to perform with a full orchestra and a choir at places such as “DR Koncerthuset” in Denmark or “Royal Albert Hall” in the UK. We have seen such great shows coming from those places and it would be surreal to perform a place like that.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Anders: If i was gonna feature in another band? “Dead By April” no doubt. But if we talk about who i think could be nice to have featured in our band it would probably be Sam Carter of “Architects”,
Sirene: Ville Valo. He has made a great impact on my musical tastes and creativity. I would like to experience his mind in action.
Emil: If i were to feature in a band it would be “Avenged Sevenfold”
9. Whom not?
We would like to be respectful against anyone, even if we do not like someone, that means we won’t throw shade or anything sorry for being boring!, No comment.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Anders: I’ve had issues when we get near the start of a concert, being anxious and uncomfortable, but it completely goes away after 5 seconds on the stage performing! I tend to forget the exact feeling I have on stage, which totally nullifies the anxiety or anything like that I feel just before going on stage.
Sirene: Every time. I don’t think it will ever go away for me, but I have learned to cope with it. It also gets easier with experience and many rehearsals.
Emil: I have never felt stage fright like that, but I have often been nervous for sure. To cope with that I just focus a lot and trust myself in what I am doing is good enough. Otherwise i try to approach the situation with the mindset “What’s the worst that can happen?”.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Anders: Recently, i’ve been inspired a lot by the band “Dead Silence Hides My Cries”. I like how they compose music.
Sirene: I get inspired by so much different music from David Bowie to Bring Me The Horizon.
Emil: I’ve been inspired by Red a lot in the past! And still am!
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Our fans haven't graced me with anything too weird yet. They have send a lot of great stuff such as drawings and other cool stuff! However, because I’m so active on social media I get a lot of questions about nudes and stuff like that. That is getting old very quickly. Don’t do that!
13. What do you think of your fans?
Our fans, the #CRYOFAM is just great! It’s a cliche to call fans “The greatest fans in the world” we know, but we truly are amazed by the love we receive from our fans and it fuels us to push harder for sure!
