Interviews: Sortout
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band, Sortout, from Austria. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Puh, we haven't been asked that question for a long time. Maybe that's why we're not so sure anymore. Anyway,
the name was definitely not planned. Rather, of all the suggestions and ideas, the name SORTOU remained in the
end. What an irony.
However, we are still very happy with the name SORTOUT: It's not just a name it rather stands for an attitude to
life. You should always try to be at peace with yourself. This is especially important in bad times. Reduce yourself
to the essentials and eliminate all unnecessary ballast that surrounds us every day, burdens us and is sometimes
forced upon us by society. Fight against the negative, exhaust all possibilities and do not give up.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Because it’s a fucking Banger (haha). Again, we didn't plan it to win a Grammy as soon as possible. It just
happened. When we put our energy and emotions into music, something comes out that can be roughly
categorized in this genre. It’s as simple as that.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Except for Beni, the rest of the band already played together in another metal band called NO.SAR. Michi our lead
guitarist played in NO.SAR and SORTOUT and so the rest of the band got to know Beni. Over the years, Beni and
the instrumental group of NO.SAR joined forces with SORTOUT.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Beni: As I Lay Dying
Michi: Unearth
Aaron: In Flames
André: August Burns Red
Günter: Parkway Drive
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We are mostly inspired by the bands and music we grew up with or currently listen to. The lyrics are often inspired
by things we or people around us are experiencing or have experienced.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was our Album Release Show on 7 March 2020 in our hometown Dornbirn at the Conrad Sohm. It was
definitely the craziest liveshow we have ever played. Moreover, it was the last show before the Corona Lockdown in
Austria. This incredible experience gives us some relief from the disappointment that we had to cancel all further
shows in spring 2020. Recently, on 24 April 2020 we released our 3rd single "Sever the Serpent's Tongue" taken
from our new album “Conquer From Within” along with an energetic live video from the Album Release Show. Head
over to our website www.sortout.org to check it out.
7. Where would you like to act?
After months of album recording, we just want to play live as often as possible and celebrate the new songs
together with the fans. If you are a promoter and you are looking for a band that performs an energetic live show,
don’t hesitate and get in touch with us! ;)
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
With every motivated band that lives passionately for the music and at the same time stays down to earth.
9. Whom not?
See the question above.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Absolutely. A certain amount of stage fright is part of it and makes the whole thing special. Good preparation is half
the battle.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
As far as our influences are concerned (everyone of us would probably say something different now) there is no
clear number 1, but to speak for the band as a whole it’s bands like Unearth, In Flames, Parkway Drive, August
Burns Red or As I Lay Dying most of the time.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Hmm, we have not received any particularly unusual requests so far. The request of a fan, if we would like to
perform with the band at his barbecue, was quite funny.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We are extremely grateful for every single fan, because only through them we can do what we love to do most -
playing live shows.
14. What do you think of our site?
Very comprehensive site from music lovers for music lovers - keep it up!
15. Something add?
We would be happy if you head over to our website www.sortout.org and/or give our songs a spin on your favorite
streaming platform. Further, we would like to thank Breathing The Core for taking the time to interview us. We wish
you all the best with the website!
