Interviews: Terrifying Parasites
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal band, Terrifying Parasite, from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
The idea for the name 'Terrifying Parasites' came from our guitarist Riccardo. We liked the idea because
Parasites are a good topic for a Death Metal Band. Additionally, it is also a metaphor for the mankind and
all the misery they did and do to the World.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Riccardo and I had the idea for a Band for some time and genre was clear from the beginning: Death
Metal.
Riccardo started with Punk and Hard Rock. He was interested in trying something new and also liked the
idea to make some real aggressive music.
I listen to Death Metal since 2003, so it is one of my favorite music genres. And I had some Death and
Black Metal Bands before and wanted to do some music again, because I love it.
Our drummer Steffen is also interested in Death Metal, but he had not played it before. So, he liked the
challenge to do something new and that was the reason he joined us.
Our Bassplayer Robert is new to Death Metal and also likes the challenge that comes with playing this
kind of music.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Riccardo (Guitar), Steffen (Drums) and I (Vocals) have know each other for a while. Riccardo and Robert
(Bass) were colleagues. So, this is the basis of our good chemistry and made it easy for us, to grow
together as a Band.
4. Each band member favorite band?
I can't name just one band, but I have some alltime favourites, like Manowar, Bathory, Hypocrisy,
Dismember, Watain, Marduk, Asphyx, Primordial, Enforcer, Darkthrone, Lik, Dissection , Necrophobic
and many more.
Ricc: Witchcraft, Hellacopters and Metallica
Rob: Insomnium, Pro-Pain and Sólstafir
Steffen: Tesseract, InMourning, Lamb of God and Cryptopsy
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Death Metal is known for hard, aggressive and brutal music. So, we are inspired by the negative things
that have happened and happen all the time. There is so much brutality and negativity in the world, so you
can find inspiration everywhere and any time to write heavy and aggressive music.
We write Songs in a very traditional way: one of us, mostly Riccardo, comes up with a riff and then we
work on that in the rehearsal room. And when the musical structure stands, I start writing lyrics for the
songs or edit a lyric I already wrote. Then we add both parts and when we like it, our new song is
complete.
6. Where was your last gig?
We had just one Gig. It was in Erfurt, a small private concert, with about 50 to 100 people. And nearly
everything what could go wrong, went wrong (short circuit of power line, broken bass speaker, melted
power plug...). But the feedback was nevertheless positive and we could grow as band together. Also, it
was the first Gig for our Bass Player ever, and I think he learned a lot at this night.
7. Where would you like to act?
We want to play as much as possible live because today it’s the only way, to get a name in the Scene. And
also, Death Metal is predestined to be played live. At first, we want to play shows in Germany.
We have some goals for the future: playing at the Party San-Metal Open Air! The best extreme Metal
Festival in Germany and in my opinion in the World. Another goal is to play in other European countries.
My dream is to play shows in South America, because the people there are real maniacs at Metal shows
and I want to feel the energy and spirit of those people!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Dismember, because they are THE Swedish Death Metal Heroes.
Lik, because their music is a big inspiration.
But in general, we would feature with other cool bands. It doesn't really matter, whether they are famous
or not.
9. Whom not?
Assholes. We don't want to work with people and bands, which are disrespectful and intolerant. Life is to
short, to spend time with assholes.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Stage fright was not a problem for any of us. Of course, we were nervous but that’s it. And yeah, we have
a tip: Beer! A lot of Beer!
But seriously: be prepared! A good preparation is very important, know your songs as good as possible
and be safe playing them and you don't need to fear to fail while playing them. When somebody wakes
you in the middle of the night and asks you to play, you have to be able to play. Then there is nothing
much to worry about.
Except when you have a bass player like ours...
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
A Band that influenced Rob the most was The Offspring because they made him last play guitar.
The Ramones are a really important Band for Ricc, because they played simple music with their immense
attitude and gave the music the power it neeeded. Also Peter Pan Speedrock for the same reason.
Steffen’s most inspiring Bands are The Hirsch Effekt because of their technique and lyrics. At the moment
he is also inspired by Jinjer, also because of the technique.
And last but not least, I will name a Band that inspired us as a band a lot: Lik because their sound, their
riffs and also their live performance is insane!
I am inspired by Watain, their Music and their stage performance is killer and they are really authentic in
my opinion. Also, I really like Asphyx, because they are four men and have such a heavy sound and let the
music talk for itself.
And of course, by Primordial especially by Allan the singer. I'm really impressed by his stage presence
and performance. Their music is deep and really honest.
There are a lot of more inspiring Bands out there.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
So far nothing I can think of. But I am curious what people can come up with.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We are a really young Band and have not so much fans right now. But those we already have, are honest
and nice people. And we are honored that they support us!
14. What do you think of our site?
I like the idea of your site, because it’s a good possibility for smaller Bands to become more known.
It is also a good platform to find new bands in a lot of genres and styles.
15. Something add?
We thank you for your support and for having us. Thank you for some nice questions.
Stay safe and stay healthy.
Cheers!
