Interviews: Wasting Time
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Pop Punk band, Wasting Time, from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out
just like that?
Our singer, Vlad was at times disruptive in class at elementary school and one
of his teachers told him that if he didn’t cut it out, he’d be working at
McDonald’s for the rest of his life. “Wasting Time” also ended up being the
least ridiculous name idea that we had at the time too.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We play pop-punk because it is the genre that we all share an affinity for and
we also want to prove that the genre isn’t dead!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Vlad met Mike through a mutual friend when Vlad decided to get the band
going again in 2017. Mark joined the band this year through the wonders of
online musician communities. Like-minded folks find each other eventually it
seems.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Vlad: Alkaline Trio,
Mark: Against Me!,
Mike: The Beatles
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Life experiences, books, and annoying elementary school teachers (they strike
again!).
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was back in February of this year at Sneaky Dee’s in our homebase
of Toronto, Canada.
7. Where would you like to perform?
All around the world!
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
Green Day would be a dream for us!
9. Whom not?
We’re just about open to playing with anyone. We’d probably like to avoid
playing with any band/artist with a terrible attitude. That wouldn’t be fun.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on
how to beat that?
Each of us have had stage fright at various points of our life on stage over the
years, but we mostly are over it these days. Practicing and knowing your parts
ahead of the performance as best as you can usually does the trick. If that
doesn’t help, have a shot of whiskey right before you hit the stage.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Green Day, Blink-182, No Use For A Name, MxPx, Nirvana
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Nothing too peculiar has happened to us yet aside from a guy at an out of town
show who kept asking Vlad to buy him food and drinks throughout the night.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We appreciate all the support that we get. We feel fortunate to have had some
very kind people talk to us in person after our shows and through social media.
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s great! The layout is nice and the featured bands are quite eclectic.
