Interviews: Dead Romantic

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Rock band, Dead Romantic, from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Ben: Dead Romantic was a name we both felt suited the sound & vibe of the band. I’d written down a few ideas, one of which was Dead Romantics - Mike text me back and said “I love it, let’s go with Dead Romantic!”

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Ben: We’re both big music lovers as well as musicians & have a real connection to the Rock background. The music we’re making is coming naturally, it’s something we just feel. The state that the world is in has put us in a very creative position.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Ben: No, we found one another over social media during lockdown & really just connected on a musical level. My good friends Bruce Drummond, who’s a music lawyer called me to tell me Mike was looking for a singer. I sent Mike a message then within a few days we hooked up! It’s all happened very quickly & we’re really excited to bring this new music to everyone!

4. Each band member favourite band?

Ben: Mötley Crüe or Metallica!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Ben: Life experiences for one are something that bring us into the creative flow. For me personally I find melodies or hooks just spring out to me and I can’t explain where they came from! Other times, it takes a step back to observe it from an alternative perspective to find out or understand what you want to say. 

6. Where was your last gig?

Ben: This is a brand new band and at this point we haven’t yet played a single show! The world is changed at this point and we have to embrace what happens now. We’re just happy to be here and at some stage, when safe to do so we will be playing live!

7. Where would you like to play?

Ben: For me, I’d love to play Download Festival! I’m a huge fan and it’s a dream.

8. Who would you like to support?

Ben: I could see us opening up for a few bands. I mean, I’ve got my dream opening slots for sure - Guns N’ Roses being #1!

9. Whom not?

Ben: Good question! Haha... can somebody else answer this one xD

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Ben: It’s natural to feel afraid of going up there however many times you do it - but once you’re on that stage, you’ve got your friends with you and you’re reaching so many people. It’s special.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

As a band, we’ve each got similar tastes in music. We’re lovers of Rock & Pop music. I’m into a lot of 80’s Rock & Metal. I mean, we all love Michael Jackson. I think as a performer, his presence was in another universe. His energy and performances were so precise and captivating and conveyed so much emotion.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Ben: Well this isn’t exactly that but I played a gig once and my bass players cousin threw her underwear at me. I don’t know if they if she brought an extra pair that day or...

13. What do you think of your fans?

As a brand new band we want to bring you guys the best music & performance we can. We’re really happy to be here. I’m so grateful of all the support from fans all over the world who connect to me on social media. I’ve made some incredible friends who I’d never know if I wasn’t playing music!
