Interviews: Indistinct
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Metal band, Indistinct, from Finland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out
just like that?
Ville: We were bouncing name ideas together with Joona back when we were fifteen and just kind of landed on this one.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Joona: We have been huge fans of metal music since little kids, but since the early Bulb demos from Misha Manshoor, progressive metal and all its variations just blew our minds. Later as we progressed as a band our music got darker and heavier, taking huge influences from other genres and film composition becoming a whole new kind of mixture.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Ville: Our lead guitarist Joona and I have been friends almost since preschool, and formed a rock band when we were just eight years old. Since then the lineup and genres changed and morphed through the years, finally forming Indistinct with the second guitarist Klaus, bass player Jare and drummer Joni in 2010.
4. Each band member favorite band?
Ouch, hard to name one since it varies by day..
Joona: Leprous
Ville: Tool
Joni: Oranssi Pazuzu
Jare: SikTh
Klaus: Deftones
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Joona: As a Netflix series binge watcher, films and tv scores constantly inspire me to to try crazy and weird compositions as well as set me up in the right mood.
Ville: I mostly do clean vocal parts, and most of my inspiration comes directly from Joonas compositions since over the years our tastes have become so similar.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was in fact at a jam night organised by our friend for bands to mingle and hang out!
7. Where would you like to act?
For a long time, our goal has been to perform at Euroblast together with other awesome bands.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Opening for pioneers of modern progressive metal like Meshushuggah, Vildhjarta, Gojira, or Leprous would be an honor! BABYMETAL!
9. Whom not?
No such preference. Good music is good music!
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Yes, I think all of us. Still are. Let us know if you find the cure!
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
The screaming dissonances from Vildhjarta were by far one of the coolest things we had ever heard. The massive sounds of symphonic metal bands played huge part on our influences as well as the weirdness and cross-genre bands like Muse. Of course we can’t ignore the influences the early 2000´s rock and metal has brought from our childhood.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
All kinds of good stuff, but we like to honor our artist-fan confidentiality!
13. What do you think of your fans?
We appreciate the kind words and praises by the few active followers we have gotten so far!
14. What do you think of our site?
You offer great content and give aspiring bands opportunities to promote and feature their material in a well-designed site. What is there not to like?
15. Something add?
Not much really! Thank you for having us here at breathing the core and I hope you all enjoy the single and stay tuned for the full release of the album “Violent Ends” on August 20th!
