Interviews: Random Ties
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band, Random Ties, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like
that?
Hey everyone Youssef here from Random Ties.
It goes back to how I met the rest of my mates which was so random yet we are tied together by our
passion to making & playing music
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
The sound that changed my life was the 90’s bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters their
music shaped who we are as a generation honestly growing up listening to them it was so
powerful.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
First, let me take you back to 2018 which was when I moved to US from Lebanon, I didn’t know
anyone or how the music scene was so I started going to open mics with my acoustic guitar & meeting other musicians then one thing lead to another & me the rest of the guys.
We have, KD who plays the drums thunderously bringing that heavy hitting power with amazing
fills & breaks, Thew whose on the second guitar, compliments my playing with his fills that are all
over our EP & Steven originally from Nirvana’s hometown brought a grunginess to the album with
some great baselines.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Mine would be Foo Fighters, Thew’s would be Tool & KD Linkin Park.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
There is so much going on around us good & bad & what better way to channel that energy &
express it via music.
Our new single “Thawra” which will be released on August 14 on all streaming platforms & our
YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fv9cC_iLZk4 is about the humanitarian
crises in Lebanon so this song is our way to support the people & hopefully shed some light at the
end of that tunnel.
This is the artwork for the single done by the Talented Layal @ipr1ncess.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was last week at the 50 th anniversary of the Goose Lake Jamboree Festival in
Joneseville MI.
7. Where would you like to perform?
Wembley Stadium hopefully one day in the UK & Wrigley Field in Chicago
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
We’d love to open for Chevelle or if I want to dream big Pearl Jam & the Foo Fighters
9. Whom not?
We would play with anyone, anyplace, anytime, all we need is a 48 hours’ notice.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to
beat that?
I wouldn’t say stage fright, I think sometimes you are over anxious or exited once you get one stage
& you might bend a note a little longer play an extra chord that shouldn’t be there but nothing major
I would say.
My advice would be is practice, practice, practice, you have to spend time playing on your own,
then with a band so everything becomes second nature & if you are a guitar player your finger
memory is unbreakable if that makes sense.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
My first memory was listening to my grandad sing the Opera, I was blown away by the
sheer power of his voice but the lightbulb moment was when I was 8 years old I started
listening to the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaugh & that’s
where my love for music grew. If I had to pick one band probably Pearl Jam.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Not to sing a particular song during one of our shows cause they get too emotional
listening to it.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We have the Random Ties family & that’s what we call our fans, I think I know most of them
personally & they are the reason we are able to survive during these tough times.
14. What do you think of our site?
I like music site that are not 1 dimensional & yours offers the reader many options be it to
search for new bands, free or paid music & most importantly you give a voice to bands like
us.
15. Something to add?
Yes, we set a goal for ourselves to remain consistent & optimistic with all that’s going on by
providing quality music to our audience & reach a wider fan base geographically so a big thanks to
you for giving us this interview & a voice.
Given that the future of live shows is up in the air, we are turning to social media more to connect
with our fans & new listeners, keeping them engaged with good content via our Insta page
