Interviews: Valkyria

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Heavy Metal band, Valkyria, from Spain. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Gorka: Every member had a piece of paper with 10 band name ideas. That way we’d read all the names and then we’d randomly choose one. Valkyria convinced us for two main reasons: the meaning behind that word and it just looked cool when written (laughs).

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Gorka: It’s the one that everyone loves in the band. That doesn’t mean we hate the other genres. Everyone’s free to listen to what they enjoy.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Gorka: Only me (bass) and the singer/guitar knew each other before the band. Weirdly enough, I wasn’t part of the band from the beginning.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Yeray: Symphony X 

Borja: Crisix 

Jon: Warcry 

Gorka: As I Lay Dying

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Yeray: Current events, different situations, myths, films, personal life experiences, and nature. Listening to music inspires us too.  

6. Where was your last gig?

Gorka: Our last gig was in Huesca

7. Where would you like to act?

Gorka: In way too many places. We’re humble so we’ll, for example, choose the Leyendas del Rock festival.  

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Gorka: It’d be cool to play with a somewhat known band from Spain.

9. Whom not?

Gorka: Maluma. It’s not our jam.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Gorka: I’m guessing every member has suffered from stage fright at some point. In the beginning, and even now too. You get nervous every time. It gets easier and easier. Sometimes that feeling of getting excited is even pleasurable. My tip is to enjoy the show yourself first, and the stage will too. 

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

11.(Gorka) So many and different Metal bands are inspiring to us. Heavy Metal and Power Metal bands (our genre) inspires us, even extreme Hardcore Metal bands. 

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Gorka:  My finger. I’m a bassist, so I don’t use picks.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Gorka: They love and support us, even in difficult times. We couldn’t be happier with them.

14. What do you think of our site?

Gorka: I think we should definitely check it. Looks really great. Congrats!
