Interviews: War Drum Syndicate
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal/Rock band, War Drum Syndicate, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name,
you planned it or came out just like that?
WDS: Guitarist Mike Laws and myself(Lead
Vocals-Chieftain Hawks ) wanted to use
something pertaining to rhythm, war and tribe.
Mike threw out War Drum and I said good but
needs another word and I threw out Syndicate,
we agreed and the rest is becoming history.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
WDS: We have a very wide range of listening
and influences but rock/metal genre naturally
fits how we express ourselves.
3. Did you know each other before the band was
formed?
WDS: Yes. Guitarist Mike Laws and myself
(ChieftainHawks) had a band previously and
when that band fizzled out, we discussed a more
serious project and after years of planning and
writing, we are finally arriving with War Drum
Syndicate
4. Each band member favorite band?
WDS: Chieftain
Hawks-(vocals) – tough for me
to answer… Eagles
Mike Laws-(guitarist) – Killswitch Engage
Greg Yates(drummer) – All time: The Beatles
Current: Jinjer
Rob Pain(bassist) – Rush
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
WDS: Positivity. Anything that involves
someone overcoming adversities and never
giving up.
6. Where was your last gig?
WDS: Shagnasty’s in Huntsville Al.
7. Where would you like to perform?
WDS: Any venue that has a crowd that wants
to rock!! Huge festivals are our main goal but
we love all size venues with people that want to
throw down.
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
WDS: Sevendust, Killswitch Engage, Tool,
Slipknot, Stone Sour, Jinjer and the list goes in
and on…
9. Whom not?
WDS: Tell us about the latest release.
WDS. It’s a laid back rocker with a huge catchy
chorus, it’s about when people make up lies to
burn you down but you always rise above the
ashes like the Phoenix.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage
fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat
that?
WDS: Most definitely. Tip: Always prepare
yourself before the gig; have all equipment and
yourself organized and conditioned. Whenever
nerves start to kick in, focus on breathing and
shift focus on warming up voice or whatever
instrument you perform. It works great because
it takes your mind off nerves and builds
confidence.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
WDS: This list can go for a long way but will
name a few- Sevendust, Killswitch Engage,
Pantera, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden,Faith No
More, Incubus, Jinjer, Shinedown, Deftones,
Linkin Park, Lamb of God, Bullet for my Valentine
and so many many more
.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever
asked you for?
WDS: The shirt off my back, in which I obliged
because it’s the kind of people we are.
13. What do you think of your fans?
WDS: We absolutely love our fans! Our fans are
the best and we will champion every single one
through our music!
14. What do you think of our site: Breathing The Core?
Your site is awesome and we highly recommend
all fans follow [Breathing The Core] to keep up
