Interviews: Focal Dystonia
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Brutal Death Metal band, Focal Dystonia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
I read about “Focal Dystonia” a long time ago in an interview with Obscura’s ex-guitarist who had this condition. It is a neurological condition that affects a muscle or group of muscles in a specific part of the body, causing involuntary muscular contractions and abnormal postures. When I wrote the music for this band I thought it was fitting to the music and the fast playing style.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
I have been in love with this kind of music for years. I also play in a couple different bands, but none of them play this specific style of brutal death metal. So I decided to write this album myself, with the idea to get more people involved after the base of the music was written.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Most of the people I have met at some point at a show or festival where I went or played with one of my other bands. This is also how the idea started rolling about having different vocalists for every track.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Unfortunately, I can only speak for myself at this moment, and this also variates a lot. But some in my BDM top are: Putridity, Neurogenic and Disgorge (US).
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Other bands and the general love for the genre.
6. Where was your last gig?
This band has not played any shows. But my personal last one was in Alkmaar, the Netherlands around August.
7. Where would you like to act?
Mexico and Asia.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Glen Benton
9. Whom not?
Kanye West
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Not really. I think everybody’s first couple shows are a bit scary but you get used to it. Only tip would be to just do it and give no fucks.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Children of Bodom, Necrophagist, Beneath the Massacre
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
To wipe my dick on the merch they bought.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They are crazy as fuck! Everybody is very supportive in this scene, love to party and have a good time.
14. What do you think of our site?
Awesome! It’s cool that you have a lot of variation and get involved with a lot of different underground bands.
15. Something add?
Thank you very much for having us!
