Interviews: Morning In May

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band, Morning In May, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name came from the band LUDO. they have an ep that came out in 2003 called "the broken bride Ep" its a conceptual ep about how the main character in the stories wife, dies in a car accident. He gets a hold of a time machine. and travels all over space and time, he lands in dinosaur times, and in post apocalyptic times. All of this to get back to that "Morning In May." the end of the EP no matter what he does he cant save her. so he gets in the car before she leaves and they both die. I thought it was pretty intense and captivating.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We originally started out as a pop punk band, however we were at rehearsals one day and as a joke started playing metalcore. I said something about "watch this be the reason we get to the next level" sure enough we started dabbling in metalcore. It sounded good, it fit my voice a lot better. And im a storyteller and very theatrical. this genre lets me do everything i want to do in one.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I knew the current group of guys i have a couple years before they were in the band. My lineup is always changing but finally got settled on the team i have now. They were former members of Alteras. a metalcore band from Youngstown, Ohio. formerly on Revival Recordings. Our bands have been "in the same room" all over the country and have played shows together for years.

4. Each band member favourite band?

My (Jake) favorite band would probably Marianas Trench or All time Low, Zacks favorite would be underoath, and Mikes favorite band is Thursday

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

What inspires us to write songs, to get feelings out. to say what cant be said. to allow ourselves to self council ourselves. For a release. theres a lot of hate built up, a lot of questions i have and never a calm mind. so we write to kind of deal with ourselves. The hope is to put these songs out and it touches someone whos feeling the same way.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last Gig was in February at Stellas Music Club in Cleveland Ohio. the last show of our tour we did before the shutdown. 7. Where would you like to act? 7. not sure what you mean.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We just featured a song with Craig Mabbitt. the next feature. i mean id love to work with Josh Ramsay from Marianas Trench, Craig Owens would be cool. i have a list. id like to do something with all of our favorites.

9. Whom not?

We'd be down to work with whoever. i mean unless theyre doing some weird behind the scenes stuff. just good people would be cool to work with

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Stage Fright. I mean I'm sure we all have in at some point. now it's just excitement. Advice, you're up there with your friends, all of you are doing the same thing and you yourself is always gonna be your hardest critic. There's no reason to be nervous. if you practice and believe in what you're doing,. then you're all good. get your time in and one day you won't be.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

There's a bunch of bands that really inspired us. Id say The Used was a big influence on me, Pop music. not that I like it all too much but how its done. Underoath, Senses Fail, Thursday, just the writing style and feeling of those bands. They showed us how a band could be.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

The weirdest thing a fans ever asked for. Probably Hair. Fans have done some weird stuff. but ask for I'm gonna say hair.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Super grateful for anyone who listens to the music. i almost feel bad. cuz i know what I write the songs about. and if that means people are connecting than they've got it pretty bad in some senses. But i am touched at the response of our songs. I think our fans are pretty neat.

14. What do you think of our site?

I think its sweet! the artwork and setup are awesome. there's a lot of subgenres of metal I'm gonna have to look into. great. the pieces were written are handled well and there's a lot of good content

15. Something add?

Thank you for taking the time to talk to us! was a fun time answering these questions. Tell your friends
