Interviews: Shattered Hourglass

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy  Metal band, Shattered Hourglass, from Australia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It just came out. When we were discussing band names, pretty much straight away Raiden mentioned 'Hourglass' and Mick dropped 'Shattered' at the front. Job done. Aside from just sounding cool, it's got some pretty cool meanings that people can take from it.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We all grew up on various types of tunes but Heavy Metal is the most prominent and comes naturally to us, and is funnest to play!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

So, Craig is Raiden's father, so they have an obvious connection but also musically and that can be heard in the music. Mick and Ryan joined the band and the brotherhood formed thereafter.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Raiden - Pantera

Ryan - Megadeth

Mick - Strung Out

Craig - Shattered Hourglass

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Raiden (12) has written all the guitar riffs and song structures to date and there's no stopping him yet. The band kind of paint out the rest of the scene to let the guitar shine but create a solid overall sound. Lyrically ithere's some attempts at poetry, life experiences and some thought provoking observations of the world we live in.

6. Where was your last gig?

At a mixed bill event in South Australia.

7. Where would you like to act?

Act?....play perhaps? - Unify, Wacken Open Air, Ozzfest, Rock in Rio, Grasspop, Download, Hellfest, etc. Any metal or mixed bill gig anywhere. We'd be stoked to support and play with most heavy, rock, punk bands. Book us in! Cheers

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

All of the bands we've listed below. But pretty much anything as long as they're cool.

None

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Nope. Advice?.. You're your harshest critic so don't worry too much. Just be yourself, do your thing and have confidence in your music that it will resonate with others and show your passion when playing.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Our best attempt at a shortlist: Pantera, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Avenged Sevenfold, Strung Out, Soundgarden, Cog, Karnivool, Twelve Foot Ninja, Tool, Rage Against The Machine, Megadeth, Metallica, Slipknot, Bleeding Through, Sepultura, Sublime, Deftones, Meshuggah, Animals as Leaders

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing too weird, just stick, picks, and setlists. A broken cymbal once
