Track By Tracks: Shores Of Null - Beyond The Shores (On Death And Dying) (2020)
I hope you’re into long dark songs, because this one lasts 38 minutes and 24 seconds. Yes, the album consists of one long song only. Musically speaking it’s a Doom Metal piece with gothic atmospheres, with the addition of classical instruments like piano and violin, both very reminiscent of 90s Gothic/Doom, creating something different from the previous albums, actually emphasizing our heavier, slower and most dramatic side. From a lyrical point of view, the album is inspired by the five stages of grief formulated by the Swiss-American psychiatrist Elisabeth KĂĽbler-Ross and it faces the awareness of the end from a human perspective, through the eyes of a terminally ill person. The track features two doom-titans, Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow The Sun) and Thomas A.G. Jensen (Saturnus), along with the angelic voice of Elisabetta Marchetti (Inno). The entire album is an emotional rise and fall, to be experienced in one go.
