Interviews: Death Perception

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal band, Death Perception from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Dana: Ask Nathan.

Nathan: I was feeling very negative in high school and remember feeling like a had a death perception. The view of seeing the bad things in life. Seeing death everywhere.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Nathan: I want to challenge myself on my instrument. I have to write songs that I cant play and then learn them. Thats how you grow.

Dana: I wanted to play metal because it was heavier than Green Day.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Nathan: The band was already a band before the current members joined but that lineup didn't make it very far. I met each person in the band setting, either at a show or in band practice.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Nathan: Slayer

Dana: Lamb of God

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Dana: Anger, pain, life.

Nathan: I like to write songs about things I dont like. When I get mad a write a song of despise.

6. Where was your last gig?

Nathan: We played in London, Ontario last November. Our Covid lockdown was lifted and we were allowed to go back to pubs for a short amount of time. We took the opportunity to film and record the event.

7. Where would you like to act?

Dana: USA

Nathan: I would like to perform in a large European festival. Hellfest, Wacken, Obscene Extreme (maybe we have to get more extreme to participate).

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Dana: Local acts.

Nathan: If I could make a special tour lineup I would pick local bands. Dawn Vally, Northshroud, Tortured Saint, 30 immolated, Psyothic.

9. Whom not?

Nathan: I wouldn't want to be on a bill with a stuck-up band who treats everyone bad. “Menew” comes to mind.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Dana: Just go for it, or have a beer.

Nathan: They say if you don't have the feels anymore then you shouldn't be doing it. You should embrace the rush.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Dana: Lamb of God, Opeth, System of a Down, Mastodon, Mushroomhead, Marilyn Manson.

Nathan: For drumming: Pantera, Slayer, Sepultura, Mastodon

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Dana: Personal vocal lessons. My guitar.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Dana: They are pretty rad, I've met many cool people.

14. What do you think of our site?

Dana: Super Duper.

Nathan: There is alot of material on there. Good job! There needs to be more websites that help the metal underground. Thank you for having us on Breathing the Core.
