Interviews: Ducain
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock 'N' Roll band, Ducain from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Jeremy: We kind of created our own spelling of the word. “Du” means “of” in French. Cain is from the Bible and could be considered the first outlaw. So we are “of Cain”, the first outlaw. Another wrinkle in the story is that growing up, my dad played in a Southern Rock band called “Outlaw Cain”, which I always thought was the best band name ever. His band inspired me to play music and put a sound in my head as a kid, so in another sense, this band is a descendent of that one, so again, we are “of Cain”.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Jeremy: It wasn’t a “thought out” process. We started writing music, and this is what we sounded like just being ourselves. Our sound is an honest representation of who we are and where we’re from.. this is us being is and it was natural happenstance.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Jeremy: Jared and I met when we worked at a gas station together. We quickly became friends and soon talked about music, which resulted in us getting together to jam, just the two of us. It was apparent pretty quickly that we were on the same page musically.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
Jeremy: One of the hardest questions for me to answer is who my favorite band is. It depends on the day for me, but to name a few: Kings of Leon, Blackberry Smoke, Led Zeppelin, and Free.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Jeremy: Everyday life. I take inspiration from things I’ve experienced that I feel like others could easily relate to, the good and the bad..or when I meet an interesting person in the world and hear about their lives. Everything has the potential to inspire my writing if the moment is right.
6. Where was your last gig?
Jeremy: Our last gig was in Canton, Ohio at a place called Buzzbin in March of 2020.
7. Whom would you like to feature with?
Jeremy: I would love the opportunity to play with Rival Sons, Blackberry Smoke, Dirty Honey, and Tyler Bryant and the Shakedowns.
8. Whom not?
Jeremy: I don’t know that there’s anyone I wouldn’t like to have a gig with. Every opportunity has the possibility to become a great opportunity. A way to spread our name and meet as many people as possible along the way.
9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Jeremy: I think we’d all be lying if we said we never suffered from stage fright. Personally, the wait is the hardest part. Once we hit the stage and hit the first note, all those anxious feelings turn into adrenaline and excitement. I think trusting the preparation is something that gets me through it. My advice is to always practice like it’s a gig, trust your preparation, and let yourself have fun and live in the moment. It’s a time to let loose, so let yourself do it.
10. What bands have inspired you the most?
Jeremy: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, Silverchair, NEEDTOBREATHE, and Incubus.
12. What do you think of your fans?
Jeremy: They are a loyal bunch of rowdy friends. Our clan. Our mob. Each and every one is important to us, because they get us and what we do. We’re all enjoying the ride together.
13. What do you think of our site?
Definitely a cool name. Good coverage, great interview questions. Solid logo. Well done!
