Interviews: Kind Villain
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band, Kind Villain from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
The name was actually the last thing we did before Kind Villain was revealed to the public, we had come
up with ideas throughout the process, but it was something that took us a while to choose. We had
several names that we were positive we would use and then Kind Villain was suggested. It beat all the
other ideas we had, and it has a deep meaning to me.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Kind Villain’s music genre is Next Gen Pop Rock, and the main reason this genre was chosen is because
the vibe and style of the band can not be described by using a traditional genre type such as Rock or Pop
or even Pop Rock. Kind Villain is a fusion of all three and we have elements that can appeal to people
across the music landscape. Instead of just calling ourselves one thing or the other Kind Villain mixed
them all together and we invented something that takes all our musical influences and wants and
satisfies them.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
No, we did not, I am quite surprised that we didn’t because some of us were playing alongside each
other for years. When I (Ev) was signed to Panacea Records we just ran into each other. John was from
Delaware and he had toured and opened for national acts before, and someone that I knew told me
about him, and John loved the project and its direction. Kat was playing shows locally for years and I had
heard about her and what is funny is Kat and I both contacted each other at almost the exact same time,
I was looking for a drummer and she was looking for a band with energy and it was a perfect fit. Andrew
was playing in event bands that would perform at theme parks and weddings in the area and was also
looking for a project that he could release his punk side. They all have the same goals and drive that I
have, and we are all open minded which is the reason that we work so well together. No egos we are
just good friends.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
I (Ev) like Green Day, John likes Snarky Puppy, Kat is a big Red Hot Chili Pepper fan, and Andrew likes
Unknown Mortal Orchestra
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
That is a tough question it depends, sometimes its about the live show we may want to add something
to the performance that has certain characteristics, because we all live to perform. Everyone including
the team around us has a drive to keep raising the bar with everything we do, and much like an athlete
we have a friendly competitive drive with our teammates to constantly get better and we often surprise
each other. This attitude and spirit allow us to create and write songs that we are proud of.
6. Where was your last gig?
During the pandemic we did multiple showcase shows and small socially distanced performances for
specific audiences. Our last show was two weeks ago but we have some shows for the public that will be
announced soon.
7. Where would you like to act?
I would love to be an actor, I would want to be in either an action movie or I would want to perform in
musical theatre, but to be honest I love the idea of acting and I would be open to do a lot of different
roles.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
That is a good question, I would love to do a song with Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day as well as
with all my other heroes, but I also would like to feature with artists that do something way different
then what Kind Villain does. I have a love for hip hop and electronic music in addition to my normal
music tastes, and I like all types of music. Being featured on a song with Khalid would be amazing I think
it would be cool if he responded to our cover. From Taylor Swift to Mike Shinoda, there are way too
many artists that I would love to collab with to list.
9. Whom not?
We are open minded as long as there is mutual respect.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Surprisingly, none of us have stage fright we are all comfortable onstage, but I do have a respect for
anyone who has the courage to perform. Like anything, the more they do it the more natural it may
become.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Green Day, Joan Jett, Panic! At The Disco, Prince, Elvis, are some of the bands and artists that have
inspired me but there are many more. I would like to mention Mike and Chester from Linkin Park for
being the reason I wanted to play in a band, and then there is always Dave Grohl.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
A fan asked me once if they could have the sole of my shoe to put on their wall, I think that is cool, but I
was surprised by that request. I let him have it and I signed it for him, I left the venue with one shoe, but
it was definitely worth it.
13. What do you think of your fans?
The band and I are very thankful to have such supportive fans that are so positive about our music. I love
answering messages from fans and meeting new people that have connected with the music we have
made. Some of these fans live in other nations that I have never even been to and it makes me happy
that Kind Villain’s music leaves a positive impact on them. We make music with hopes that people will
hear it and appreciate it, and we are grateful for our supporters.
14. What do you think of our site?
I like the fact that you give underground and hardcore bands coverage in addition to other music
styles are something that young kids will appreciate.
15. Something to add?
Make sure to check out Kind Villain’s music video for 8teen, it is a Next Gen Pop Rock reimagined cover
of the Khalid song. Thanks for hanging out and thank you for the coverage.
