Interviews: Solution 13

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock/Metal band, Solution 13 from Finland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

There is ́t any deeper meaning behind the band ́s name. It ́s a little bit tongue-in- cheek kind of thing. A friend of ours suggested that, because a common Finnish alcohol drink has the number 013 as a catalog number for liquor stores here in Finland.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

When we started the band, we didn't ́t have any specific plans concerning the genre. We just started jamming and writing our own songs. Our music just turned out the way it is, it was ́t intentional.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Originally the band was formed almost 15 years ago by our vocalist Ilkka Järvenpää, guitarist Petri Sääskö and myself. As far as I remember, Ilkka and Petri knew each other a little better. I knew them only from local bands, but I didn ́t really know them personally.

4. Each band member favourite band?

All of us listen to so many different bands that it ́s impossible to name just a few. I think all the members are listening to everything from old school thrash metal to AOR. Not to mention several bands which are not metal or hard rock at all.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Usually, Petri has a riff or something where we start working. We just start jamming and throwing ideas to each other and see where it gets from there. Our song-writing isn ́t very pre-planned, but much more instinctive, I would say.

6. Where was your last gig?

Like I mentioned before, the band was formed already almost 15 years ago, so it must have been back then. I can ́t remember exactly, where! After reunion and with this line-up, we haven ́t been able to play live yet. We ́re really looking forward to that!

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere, where it ́s possible to arrange rock concerts and the people are willing to show up and come to see the bands play!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Basically, any band would do, if their audience just gives us a fair chance to introduce our music to them.

9. Whom not?

A reverse answer compared to the previous question. Maybe some pop or rap artist would be the worst choice for us to share the stage with.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

No, not really. Therefore we are not the right persons to say how to deal with it. Personally, I think that it ́s only a good thing to be a little excited before the show. It makes you perform better and keeps your energy high.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

There ́s way too many bands who have ispired us to mention here! Everything from classic 70 ́s hard rock bands to modern stuff.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Some years ago when we were touring in Germany with my ex-band Poisonblack, a guy wanted to ask his girlfriend to marry him in the middle of our show1 That ́s was weird and really cool at the same time!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Well, for me the fans are the whole reason why we make albums and play gigs. If there wasn ́t them, we might as well stay at home and play music just for ourselves, right?

14. What do you think of our site?

I was only able to take a quick look, but it looks cool and professional as far as I am concerned!
