Interviews: Symmetric Organ

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal band, Symmetric Organ from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

There are various aspects that made us chose our name: Symmetric Organ somehow is a description of how we want to sound like. On the one hand we want our Death Metal to be sharp, precise, accurate and with some technical approach - kind of mechanical if you want to say so... that is what Symmetric stands for. On the other hand we want it to be organic and naturally at the same time to bring over a certain kind of atmosphere of energy and passion. Symmetric Organ seemed to be a cool picture to reflect that. A further important aspect was NOT to have a name that simply stands for Gore, Horror, Murder, Perversion or other very common main topics in Death Metal. Along with that our lyrics deal with the darker sides of society and humanity in general. A very important topic on the new album besides others example is greed for example.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

That's easy! Death Metal simply is the passion we all share as fans as well as musicians. By the way all of us prefer different stuff and also some other music besides that. But we all really are into keeping it fast and brutal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Before we started with SO most of us played together in Exposed Guts, we had great times back then and played a lot of great shows with heavyweights like Deicide, Monstrosity, Lividity, God Dethroned and others. Line-up-changes of that band brought us to start with SO a few years ago. As soon as we found our lead guitarist Ivar time was right to get it all going. That brought us to our first album States Of Decay back in 2016 followed up by the current one called Amazing Disgrace.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

That's too difficult for there is too much great stuff out there. Well for me, I can say that according to Death Metal bands like Monstrosity, Brutal Truth and earlier Gorefest have really left their mark, one of Ivars (guitar) faves definitely are Dying Fetus. Andreas (drums) is into bands like Nile, early Vader, Terrorizer and stuff like that. Karsten (guitar) is deeply into classic thrash. A Death Metal Band he really likes is Kataklysm.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

When it comes to write or own stuff we try not to follow our favorite bands or albums. Our goal is to create a certain kind of energy that is straigt forward and faceripping. A lot of our riffs come up while we rehers or simply practice improving our skills.

6. Where was your last gig?

The last gig we did was before this damn pandemic in Rostock in the north-east of Germany.

7. Where would you like to act?

With other bands we all saw different parts of Europe, but all our gigs with SO have taken place in Germany so far. It would be great to change that as soon as it is possible again.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

That's a question where I can only speak for myself. If you'd ask any of the other guys you'd get different answers for sure. Anyway. For me, it's Jason Avery. The former Monstrosity vocalist who did In Dark Purity and Rise To Power. Having a vocal feature with him would be awsome. Same for Oscar Garcia who did the first Terrorizer album.

9. Whom not?

I don't know, never really thought of people I do NOT want to spend time with.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, I have. A certain stage fright is good because you should never be to selfconfident with what you are going to do when you get up there. It can help to sharpen your senses to remind you to focus. However, the fright must not gain the upper hand. For me personally it helps a bit to ritualize the final steps in a way.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The biggest Influence we share are US-styled Death Metal Bands besides the faves I already mentioned there are bands like Origin, Cryptopsy, Deeds of Flesh and others From Europe there are bands like Carcass, Aborted, Torture Division and tons of others from all around the world

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Back with Exposed Guts a girl once wanted me and others to sign her body for a tattoo.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We play the sound that we would like to hear ourselves as fans. So It's always great to meet/get in touch with like-minded people in terms of music.

14. What do you think of our site?

Looks great! Keep up the good work.
