The artist came up with his interpretation of the hindu goddess Chinnamasta. To paraphrase the artists words, she represents contradiction such as life and death and sex and restraint. Some cultures would say that the lotus flower represents blooming life, while the scimitar represents death. There is a continuous and inevitable cycle of death and rebirth, and humans only make it harder on themselves by resisting.
