Interviews: Trash Heads
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal band, Trash Heads from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
We were previously called ‘Trash The Set’ and wrote a song called ‘Trash Heads’ as an ode to our fans –
the song signalled a change in direction for our music and we thought it was a better band name too!
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
From teenagers at school together we all got into rock and metal (such as Maiden, Metallica, G’N’R)
which led to us wanting to learn how to play ourselves – it all snowballed from there!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, guitarists Mark and Tone have been friends since they were 5 years old and met singer/bassist AJ at
Dartford Grammar School (former school of one Sir Mick Jagger!). Drummer Mike met and joined the
band through an online musicians wanted ad, but turned out to have several mutual friends.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Mark (guitars) – Radiohead
Tone (guitars) – The Cardiacs
AJ (vocals/bass) – Faith No More
Mike (drums) – Iron Maiden
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
The bands/artists we listen to have a big influence on us musically of course, but also general life whether
it be boring, interesting, frustrating or funny. We try not to be too on the nose with our lyrics and leave
them open to interpretation – that way we can sneak things into our songs and people might not notice...
6. Where was your last gig?
We played at Leo’s Red Lion, Gravesend (Kent) on Saturday 12th June – was a great outdoor show with
our friends ‘Follow The Hawk’.
7. Where would you like to perform?
Locally, Tunbridge Wells Forum and Ramsgate Music Hall. London – Brixton Academy!
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
Queens of the Stone Age and The Wildhearts.
9. Whom not?
The Levellers or Mumford & Sons
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Not really, maybe a bit of anxiety / adrenaline when getting on stage! Good advice to beat it is play as
many gigs as often as you can. Maybe have a drink before the show (not too many that you can’t play
well of course!)
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Probably a mixture of QOTSA, Faith No More, Metallica, The Wildhearts, Foo Fighters.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Our fans aren’t particularly weird so don’t recall anything of note, sorry!
13. What do you think of your fans?
They’re great – they show us lots of love and support and we really appreciate it!
14. What do you think of our site?
Love it – great mix of new bands music and video, and even looks snazzy too.
15. Something to add?
We’ve just released our latest single ‘Set It Right’ (available via our Bandcamp page or all good
streaming platforms), taken from our forthcoming sophomore album ‘Vandalism’ due in September.
