Interviews: 6:33
We have had the opportunity to interview the Experimental Progressive Metal band 6:33 from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Rorschach: The idea of the name came out just like that, at the exact time the formal
members decided to create this band. It was at the end of a party night. The bunch of
friends was wondering how they would call the band, when one on them watched the clock
and the time was 6:33. So he claimed “let’s call it 6:33!”. The guys loved it and thought if
they still like that name when they wake up they would keep it…They did, so they kept it!
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
R: We didn’t plan anything, and we still don’t today…We just want to feel totally free, to
make a music without boundaries...We love metal but we also love many other styles, and
we decided to associate them together in order to create something very personal, and so
very unique.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
R: Yes Nicko (composer and guitarist) was already playing with S.A.D (former bassist),
and Mr Z (keyboards & machines) was a friend of the former singer…
The line-up has changed a bit since then, but all the new members were already friends
before to become a member of the band.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Just 1 is too hard to tell, so let’s make it 3!
Rorschach: Rage against the machine, Faith no more and Queen.
Nicko: Pink Floyd, Devin Towsend and Dillinger escape plan.
Vicken: Opeth, Symphony X and Revocation.
Mr Z: Nine inch nails, Paradise lost and Alice in chains.
Mano low: Primus, Nine inch nails and Mr Bungle.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
R: We’re inspired by everything that made us being who we are today, all the cultural
things we’ve been through: all the music we listened to, the movies, books, video games,
series, animations, mangas and cartoons that we’ve been knowing...
When we decide to write an album, Nicko and I think about a concept, a theme that we
would like to play with, and we twist it our own way with all these inspirations in order to
see what it can give.
Nicko is the genius of the band. He composes all the music following only his feelings, and
then I write the lyrics following mines…And it always matches! We feel very lucky to have
this very special link between us.
6. Where was your last gig?
R: 2016. After then we’ve been writing the new album, and it took us 4 years to finish it.
7. Where would you like to act?
R: Asia, Europe, America…We want to spread our shows to the whole world!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
R: Devin Townsend, Mattias Eklundh, Mike Patton, Mike Portnoy, ...and many others!
9. Whom not?
R: Bono, coz I fucking hate that guy (laughs)
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat
that?
R: Once I was moving as a crazy dog on stage and I made the computer with all the
samples and drums (at this moment we didn’t have a drummer) fall on the floor…I thought
the sound of the samples and the drums were gonna stop and ruin the show, but hopefully
it didn’t. The computer didn’t stop and the cable kept attached on it, so we could go on like
nothing happened.
My advice about it: be always conscious of what’s around you on stage, the instruments
AND the people (other story…) (laughs).
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
R: Mickael Jackson, Devin Townsend, Danny Elfman, Queen, Mike Patton, Pink Floyd,
Primus, Nine inch nails, Toto, Ennio Morricone…
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
R: Once I’ve been asked by a fan girl to give her my “semence” so she could have a baby
with my genes.
13. What do you think of your fans?
R: Our fans are simply the best in every way! More seriously, we feel so grateful to see that
our music can touch people…It’s the dream that every musician has… And even if we
hope that the number of our fans will increase with the release of our new album coming
out on October 1st, we already always feel like we’re superstars when we’re on stage with
our public. We thank them so much for their support.
14. What do you think of our site?
R: It looks really nice! And as you’re willing to talk about 6:33 I can assure everyone that
Breathing The Core can be nothing but great!
15. Something to add?
R: Our new album coming out on Oct 1st “Feary tales for strange lullabies: the Dome" can
really be liked by everybody. Everyone who wants to go out of his comfort zone, everyone
who want to have fun, listening to a “complex but not elitist" music that brings you to
colorful loony adventures…Everyone who looks for something fresh and fun.. To all these
people 6:33 was made for you, and this album will make you headband and shake your
ass in the same time!
Thank you Breathing The Core for your support, and keep it loud!
