Interviews: Deathcraeft
We have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal/Death Metal band Deathcraeft from Greece. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Hi Breathing the Core! First of all, thank you for the interview. This is Kostas the guitarist and
founder of Deathcraeft.
I was talking to a friend of mine who wanted me to produce an album for him and we got
talking about creating a band and just playing whatever we wanted and I was thinking about
Lovecraft who is one of my best writers and how great it would be to have lyrics based on the
Cthulhu mythos that he created. The name of course had to do something with death and as
I'm also a huge fan of the starcraft video game the name Deathcraeft instantly came into my
mind. Some months later I was thinking why not make it happen? And so, Deathcraeft was
formed.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
I like cinematic music and having variety in the compositions. It doesn't necessarily have to be
something like progressive metal – just not be restricted by only one genre. Heavy metal in all
its incarnations has a lot of different musical elements to draw inspiration from. Why restrict
our creativity?
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We all live in the same small town so yes we all knew each other.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Nikonas (vocals) – Opeth
Kostas (Guitars) – Annihilator
Pantelis (Guitars) – Dream Theater
Chris (Bass) – Testament
Chris (Drums) - Suffocation
As you can see there is a lot of variation here!
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Fiction and human interactions in everyday society – both of which many times are one and
the same
6. Where was your last gig?
Unfortunately when the band formed, the virus epidemic broke through, so we haven't played
gigs as Deathcraeft yet.
7. Where would you like to act?
Big gigs or small gigs are the same for us. We just wanna have a great time along with the audience.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Great musicians that will inspire us with both with their craftsmanship and the show they give
on stage.
9. Whom not?
Bands where their members don't play nice with others.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Stage fright is very common – just don't think about it and most of the times by the time you
get on stage it goes away.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
I would say most of the 80's thrash and death metal bands – from Forbidden and Testament to
Paradox, Morbid Angel and Death.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
We have not experienced anything weird...so far
13. What do you think of your fans?
Although we are a new band our listeners find our music interesting and refreshing and are
being positive to what we are trying to do.
14. What do you think of our site?
There is a lot of content, and it is very helpful for the bands to show their work. Great work.
15. Something to add?
The last 1.5 years were tough on all the people all over the world, so please be careful, take care and
protect your families and friends. We hope we see you on one of our shows. Thank you for the
interview!
