Interviews: Ghost Horizon

We have had the opportunity to interview the Atmospheric Black Metal band Ghost Horizon from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their  FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

I was thinking of something "black metal" sounding that would invoke an air of mystery, and I thought of Ghost Horizon. I still think it's a good name after 6 years.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Curiously enough, I never really set out to play black metal. A friend of a friend heard my playing and asked if I'd be interested in playing in his black metal band. It was all history after that.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Well, the only other member of the band is drummer Frog Magus from Australia. He's a session drummer I found on the Metal-Archives forum, and he actually performed the drums on an album of a past band of mine.

4. Each band member favourite band?

I can't speak for Frog, but for me it's gotta be Led Zeppelin more than any other single band.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

What inspires me these days usually comes from real life experience--whether it be lyrically or just the emotions of it that turn into the music itself.

6. Where was your last gig?

The last gig was in Tempe, AZ with Abigail Williams in 2015.

7. Where would you like to act?

Japan.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

As in a live show? I think playing with Alcest would be pretty cool and fitting. I tried to open for them and the past though and they said Ghost Horizon was too heavy as an opener.

9. Whom not?

Any band with a sound that is too similar. Variety is the spice of life!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, multiple times. I have very bad luck in live settings, and as a result I've largely avoided it. I'd say just practice often and bring a backup guitar.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Alcest, Agalloch, and Ulver. All for different reasons.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

My autograph. LOL

13. What do you think of your fans?

Although few in number, I think they're pretty open minded individuals. And anyone who enjoys my music is cool by me.
