Interviews: Scattered Storm
We have had the opportunity to interview the Industrial Groove Metal band Scattered Storm from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Hey Breathing the Core this is Jay Arriaga the drummer from Scattered Storm. The name was planned. I kept thinking about the state of people’s minds during the pandemic and this current election and it was chaotic. So the Storm refers to people’s struggles in life and their anxiety or depression. Scattered meaning it can be anywhere.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Because playing Metal is beautiful! There are no limitations to the ideas one can put on a record. We are finding out with the reviews that our material is pretty varied to the extent of calling us prog metal, but it is just not limiting ourselves musically. Some people may like or not and that is fine, but we wanted to make sure we are seen as a band with musical possibilities.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Very well actually. Everyone has played in other projects at some point. Ed and Andre played in Pissing Razors, I jammed with Kevin on his band Section 6 and Andre and I played in two bands previously, one called Hereafter the Wave. But we know each other pretty well and know our styles. This band has three drummers lol
4. Each band member favourite band?
Kevin loves Fear Factory and Meshuggah. Ed loves Pantera and ACDC, Andre loves Hip Hop, 311 and many metal bands, I personally love prog metal, classical, I mean if I have to mention bands it would be Meshuggah, Dream Theater, Tool, Sabbath, etc. There are too many great bands.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Comic books, tv shows, video games, movies, books and the obvious internal inspiration while awake or dreaming
6. Where was your last gig?
We recently played at our release party in our hometown of El Paso, TX.
7. Where would you like to act?
Anywhere we can afford to go to and that shows interest in the band obviously. We are seasoned touring veterans so we want to place the attention in the proper places.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
We would love to play with Meshuggah, Fear Factory, Gojira, Slipknot, Periphery, etc.
9. Whom not?
Avril Lavigne, is not good to her fans lol
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
We all get the willies before a show, it is a normal expression of the excitement previous to playing. I think we overcome it in a way by playing constantly and getting used to it, but even then you still get nervous before big shows.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
All the ones mentioned previously and then some more.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
If we can have less fog at shows to take better pictures lol
13. What do you think of your fans?
So far it is early to tell because we are a new band and it is expanding as we speak. It has been good so far
14. What do you think of our site?
Killer design and I love the emblem type logo you got going on
15. Something to add?
Thank you for featuring us and for all the support. Spread the word, the Storm is coming.
