Interviews About Albums: The Iridium Experiment - Buried No More (2021)
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
We enjoyed the process of making this E.P., because of the creative freedom each member had when it came to laying down the tracks. With Covid making it difficult to get into a room to practice and tighten up the tracks, a lot of the time the members would hear each other’s parts for the first time while recording their parts. This gave the E.P. an interesting yet raw flavor. We didn’t think it would see the light off day, but we’re very excited to release it to the ether.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
‘BURIED NO MORE’ is an amalgam of a multitude of concepts and themes, but chief amongst those for us is ‘rising up after being held down or buried by fates hand’. But to be honest, we usually shy away from telling people what the entirety of what the E.P. or track names mean to us or why we chose it, as we want the listeners to decide what it means to them when listening to the tracks.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
It is a combined effort, from arrangement to recording, BUT, to be honest, our initial main WRITER is our epically talented guitarist and producer Kenneth Hugh. He lays down the main ideas and from there the individual members write and stack their contribution onto the idea. We then listen through ideas and, if needed, tweak the arrangements and lay down the final version of the tracks. All of this, to date, has been done exclusively at RABID DOG STUDIO in Johannesburg, S.A.
4. If you have to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Well, that’s a tricky question! We love them equally, as they are like our ‘creative children’. What we will say though, is that we chose ‘Buried Before’ and ‘F(l)ake’ to be our main singles off of the E.P. Make of that what you will…
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD?If there is what it is?
The main message throughout E.P., in our opinion, is that you are stronger than you realize. You just need to stand up, put your fist in the air and declare ‘I am Buried No More!’
6. Are there some lyrics that you´d love to share?
Definitely – off of our song ‘No Enemy’ – ‘Don’t hate me my brother..We are all the same..They can’t beat us if..We don’t play their game!’
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thanks especially?
The musical influences are varied on this E.P., with a decent blend of 90’s metal rawness fused with hard rock and alt-metal. We can’t point to specific bands, as there are way too many, but what we will say is that this E.P. is the culmination of our lifelong musical influences. Who knows what the next E.P. will hold, as our musical tastes span multiple genres. But for now, we’re happy with the result we achieved with ‘Buried No More’
8. Something to add?
We would like to thank our ever-understanding partners and families, for always standing by us and supporting our musical ambitions. We also wouldn’t be able to release this E.P., without the guidance and support of key people in our inner circle, including France The Planet, Chris Bethea, Ryan Donnelly along with every single radio station and reviewer who took a chance on our material, our fellow band members and our fans/listeners. And finally - We would like to thank our savior for imbuing us with our musical talents and putting us on the path to work together on this project.
